Battery life

From the time I wake up till the time I get back home from work if need about 6 hours screen on time. Which I've seen the maxx can do. And I've seen a lot of people with 5+ with the note 2. I had the original note and didn't care for its size much.

6 hours of screen time is a lot for any phone other than the RAZR maxx or Note 2. I get 4+ regularly though. I would suggest you get a small Anker portable charger. Gives a great charge in no time and small enough to fit in your coat pocket.

Ya I know it's a lot of time. And I'm usually around a charger so I'm not worried about it. But it would be really nice to be able to unplug when I wake up and not have to worry at all until I got back home. But since I'm prepaid there is no way I'm going on a carrier to get better battery life. I'm perfectly happy with the nexus 4 and its average battery life.

I got my Note 2 in Oct and eventually the battery life would last me around around 14-16 hrs and I would still have 35-40% left before i went to bed and plugged it in...that was with JB 4.1.1......now with the new upgrade to JB 4.1.2 my the same time period my batter would be down to 15-20% or less with same activity use on it....I have read alot of forums but wondering why with the new upgrade it has gotten worse. They said that with this upgrade the battery life was suppose to improve....I got better usage from the old system....right now as i type this I am at 94% and only been running for 1hr55mins....its crazy....

lmao whats your secret...thats insane to last that long....i cant seem to figure it out...i have had mine since oct...

This is what you can get with light to moderate usage. There's almost no "leakage" when not in use. My Verizon GN burns a ton of juice when it's sleeping. The N4 can go a long time on standby.

N4 on T-Mo in Northern Virginia.

Not much. I can't remember since it was a while ago and I wasn't really trying for a long battery score. I have two phones and the N4 isn't my primary. The thing I have found is that it really holds charge a long time when it's not being used a lot.

I have had many android phones like most of us on here. One word- Unimpressive. I had my rom'd One X lasting me 4+ hours of screen on time over a 16+ hour time period. I keep my screen at less than 20% brightness, run very few apps, and I still cant seem to squeeze more than 2 hours out of the N4. I am charging every evening. Oh well, cant have it all........

hey. the 4.2.2 update. it has changed the battery life and made it amazing. I can't tell you the difference in battery life that it made.

N4 with 4.2.2 I am now getting 2 days of moderate use out of it. I couldn't get a single day of moderate use before the update.

Since the 4.2.2 update, my battery life for me is great. I'm in 3g/H+ all day because I have an unlimited data plan. Usually, I got 10 Hrs. battery life with less than 20% remaining. My screen on time on average is 2.5 hrs. Therefore, if you're not using 3G/H+ all the time, you'll last more than what I got.

After installing Easy Battery Saver I've been pulling this off steadily. Not terrific but its alright I suppose...
3h 55m 17s screen use.
4 email accounts on push,
all notifications on,
location services off.
Wifi was off and on depending where I was.

Im not sure how much the Battery Saver app is helping but I know my first cycle on this phone wasn't great.
And I am still playing wth the settings trying to get them right because I feel like I am not getting notifications on time.

My battery life is good by my standards. My only requirement is that it makes it through the day. I charge every night. I usually get 3hr+ screen time plus music streaming.

I just wanted to update.
I did a full charge yesterday before I left work and disabled the Easy battery Saver app.
Also, I switch WiFi off and on as needed
I used the phone very little yesterday, checked and sent maybe 4 emails, listened to 8Tracks for 10 minutes.
This morning I streamed one 30 minute radio show on TuneIn and watched about 10mns of youtube videos.
This morning my battery was at 56% and after the radio and videos I was at 27%..

It seems extreme to be depleted THAT much for such little use.

Now I am charging again and my stats for that little test were
16h 12m 8s on battery
25% remaining
1h 58m 23s screen time.

Maybe I'm just too new to Android to be pumped with those results ... ?
I find I am using my phone ALOT less than I used to because Im scared the battery won't make it.... Not too fun

Update - Looking into this a bit more. After the alrming 29% drain from this morning I tried to see how much juice the TuneIn and Youtube apps actually drained.
TuneIn was 4%, and YouTube didn't even register.
HOWEVER,
Hotmail is at 41%.... What the hell is this app doing that its taking 41% of my battery?
I've switched it to check every 30 minutes rather than Push emails, we'll see what happens.

I have outlook.com which is the update to hotmail.com and I see the same problem. it actually consumed more than 50% of my battery on my nexus 7. that is the worst app ever.

uninstalled. thanks for the tip I thought N7 was doing something crazy. so glad I never installed that on my N4.

Is there a issue with this thing a losing battery when in sleep mode? I seem to lose some battery even when its in sleep.

Also, what considered acceptable battery life on this phone?
