Battery life

I've had the Edge + for about a month and love it. The battery life isn't bad, but it does seem to lose a lot just in standby. I can walk from home at 100% and have lost several percentage points in as little as half an hour. This seems excessive, hardly acceptable.

I've had my phone for almost a week and the battery runs down too quick. I can leave it on standby for several hours and lose about a quarter of the battery. From my personal experience with smartphones that isn't normal. If I use the phone for a few minutes it runs down about 10 to 15% from full charge. I have no idea what to do about it. I was thinking of calling my telco to see if they can do anything about it.

Battery life depends on alot of different things
- the amount of applications that are running
- if you have multiple processors and they all run at same time you will use alot of battery
(there are options in the settings to limit the amount of processors used when in standby)
- bluetooth and wifi receivers use alot of battery, you can switch these off when you don't need them
- there are different network modes, some of them use more or less power
- turn off the gps when you don't need it
- you can reduce the screen brightness to save battery
- Setting a black background also reduces power usage for most screens

There are alot of free tools available that tell you all the information about your battery usage and can improve it in many ways.
But be careful because some of these tools can make you use more battery instead of less.

I'm not unfamiliar with any of these battery saving strategies, but I maintain that the phone bleeds power generally, somewhat surprisingly. When not in use, I have the screen set to maybe 30% brightness, sleep set to 15 seconds, and sometimes will even put it into airplane mode. Under settings like this, it will go from off the charger, full, to in the 80% range by the time I reach where I'm going. I've seen it lose 30% overnight, unused. In regular use, the battery seems pretty fine to me, but at rest, it loses way more power than other high-end phones I've had.

For example: last night, the phone dropped from 80% to 35% overnight on the bedside table.
