Battery Performance

I've been playing around with different ROM's and Kernel the past week or so. I've used SetCPU and have read about Collin_ph battery tweak. My quest was to find the best combination for battery life, speed, and free internal memory.

If I had to focus on only one of these attributes it would be battery life.

In November I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure. I will not have the opportunity to charge my phone for about 72 hours. After the $2300 donation, plus the expense for camping gear, shoes, etc. I just don't have the funds to buy additional batteries or portable chargers.

I don't expect to get 72 hours out of a single charge, but I really want to squeeze the maximum number of hours that I can from the battery so that I will be able to maintain contact with my family while I am away.

Any of you that have found a winning combination please share what worked best for you.

There is no need to SetCPU anymore as CM7 has the CPU settings built in. I have used SetCPU and the batter hack on my last phone (HTC Hero), but did not get much gain in battery. If you set your CPU too low, the phone will be unusable as it will take too long wake form a sleep state (your screen could time out before you can unlock it. Very frustrating. You should set your screen brightness to as low as you can. The display is a big user of the battery. You should also turn off all the autosync (as well as wifi and bluetooth. If you don't need GPS, turn that off as well.

With all that said, it mostly depends on your signal (Poor signal=more battery usage). A poor signal can kill your batter in a matter of hours.

If you want your phone to last as for the 72 hours, I would suggest that you turn the phone off while you are traveling and turn it on when you need it.

During the race, put the phone in airplane mode or turn it off when not in use. That will give the best battery life. Otherwise, use the battery tweak mod for cm7. And, for reborn, use a CPU app ie setcpu, cputuner, etc... Or you can use the battery tweak with reborn now... It should last three days if done properly. Especially if you turn it off for the majority of the day...

Airplane mode toggle and brightness mode toggle. Put those in your power widgets and use them. I can easily get 2 days keeping my phone on all the time and just toggling the radio and brightness when not in use. I haven't tried 3 days but it should get pretty close depending on how much you are making calls.

Use the Collin tweak and the default settings should be fine. Insure that your battery is properly calibrated, I would estimate around 60 hours atleast if it were in an idle state (with cell radio) I usually get 45-50 hours off a charge when my phone is idle mostly (1-2 hour's of music and some tapatalk throughout the day, with conversational texting for about an hour) I have also let my phone just sit in idle until it dies (with a small amount of use) and have obtained 56 hours! Its amazing how many hours can come out of a 2 hour charge! Of course with a min frequency of 245 and all data (background too), wifi, gps, etc turned off and brightness.down.

I also do believe those stats are from constant fell radio (no airplane)
