I presently have a Galaxy S5 and am thinking about buying an S7. Is battery quality a concern when buying a used phone with a non-replaceable battery?

It can be, because you don't know for sure how the previous owner has treated the battery. If he or she habitually let the battery drain to zero or near zero before charging up, that can significantly decrease the battery's overall lifespan.

BD and Friz, thank you. Buying a used phone was a no-brainer when you could easily replace the battery. Not so much now when you're spending a few hundred dollars on a good-quality 2YO phone with unknown battery power and no easy, inexpensive way to replace the battery.

If nothing else, you can buy a case with a built in battery for many popular phones. If the used phone has a poor battery, that would help without dealing with cables and external battery packs or the expense of having someone replace the sealed battery.

Thanks for that idea, Mooncatt. It does add some bulk to a sleek phone, though.
