This will depend on the make model of the phone. Is this a new phone with new battery or a used older phone, with older battery. Make and Model of phone? OS version? Carrier Network? Are us using Wi-Fi? Some may variables, and this is just a few of them. If you are on a poor cell network signal this can play havoc. If you can go to Setting > Battery and post some screen shots that may give us some idea.

You did not say what version of Android OS you are running. If this is happening after upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop then you need to do a Factory Reset. Which will help the battery if you do not have a battery going bad. If it is fact a battery going bad then it will only get worst. I had to replace my battery after a year. Check you my post in the following thread.

The Factory Reset (FR) process clears many extraneous or runaway processes that may be consuming the energy from your battery. It is generally recommended, based on conventional wisdom and members' experiences, to complete an FR after every major upgrade of OS. This helps to get rid of unwanted processes and clear up the caches, so that the phone is able to operate optimally with the upgraded OS.

So, if you have just upgraded to LP from KK, you might try the FR and see if that improves your battery performance.

Can anyone run me through how to do the FR without losing all my data/apps ect.. Or a guide on YouTube or something.

Let's see how it goes I did the factory reset, I'm assuming everything got whipped cache and all, I did it from the settings backup & reset.

Let us know if that solves it for you, or if you will have to go the new battery route.
