Battery Reading Incorrect

my phone completely shut off today when the battery was at 9%. after it finally turned on after being on the charger, it was at 2%. How can i get the phone to have a more accurate reading?

are you rooted? You could charge it all the way then wipe the battery stats. Drain it fully and then recharge it totally. Should help with that
