Battery swelling

I went into the repair store, happens to be up the road... they didn't have a battery on site, or hire would have given me one. So they had one shipped... got it in two days.

i also have the same problem so i just wanna ask when you changed your battery do you still encounter this problem?

Honestly I think the swelling of the battery is caused by heat, which may have made it more prone for the batteries to fail under ICS since that OS has its issues with overloading the phone.

But my GSII was running sotck GB since day one (Jan 2012) and just today I had to go in to store for a new battery since mine had started to swell. I noticed for the past few weeks that while streaming or playing videos the phone would get pretty hot and about 3 weeks ago the phone started shuting down and restarting on its own!

Upon restarting it would tell me to plug into charger, but after plugging into charger it would indicate battery level between 65-75%... wierd.

Battery was tested at store and deemed failed! got a new battery and all is well, except they intalled ICS update on my phone, which I didn't want
Why would they install ICS when JB is already out... the world my never know! I'll be updating to JB soon.

Just going thru the new JB on my phone... got it done updated about half hour ago, no way I'm running ICS... looks sweetnow!

Trust me, I went today, 5/06/13 and they want 55 bucks for a btty. So i been looking up the problem and i bump into you guys.
even with the insurance, $55 out the door, and if they stock it like all Sprint stores "DON'T" yes, there will be a waiting period.

my phone Sumsung galaxy S4 is only four months old. Has been switching itself off, even though the battery is 100% charged. When its connected to the charge it works well, but as soon as you disconnect the charger, it works few minutes and automaticall switches off. Today 2013/09/30, I decided to check the battery, to my surprise i find the battery is swelling. I will send the phone to Sumsung tomorrow

My phone does the same thing i was told that it because you over charge the battery which creates a discharge. when you get your new battery be sure to only charge it while youre awakeand unplug it as soon as the battery is fully charged. also try not to use the phone while its charging

Thanks for the information. My battery is swollen on my galaxy s4. Will seek to replace it and avoid overcharging it and using it while charging. Unfortunately its a deception from Samsung devices as Apple battery does better.

I had the same problem... I went to tech support and the guy literally said wow I can't believe this hasn't blown up its so swollen! Then he proceeded to tell me about a Swedish or something girl just recently had her phone ( exact one as mine) blow up in her pocket and gave her 3rd degree burns all down the side of her hip and leg. ... seriously and your selling this to people! It comes with no warning label and they don't tell you the risks when you buy it... im going to do some more studying up on this then im going in to demand a phone that won't possibly blow up in my face. if they give me issues dad's a lawyers so I hope they are ready.

Recently my Samsung S111 battery was swollen and had it replaced but the new battery after 3 months was flickering on and freezing the page so I look at my old battery was not swollen anymore so installed it back and its been 2days n my phone is doing very well so far:now my question is is this safe to use or shall I remove it and purchase a new one..am not happy about it as the battery is expensive.Kindly advise.

So my phone has been acting up lately and I figured it was just software. (My screen would flicker and then turn off, it would only turn on if it was plugged in)

Today it actually locked up and forced me to do a battery pull.

What greeted me shocked me.

My battery was swelled up.
LITERALLY, like it was going to burst.

Sprint gave me a hearty "Hello" and a swift kick in the butt for wanting them to do something about it.
I had to order a new battery on amazon,

Has anyone else had a problem with them?

Yes! This happened to me yesterday! I have to wait a week for my battery from amazon to come in! Having a swollen battery and being pregnant scares me... I fear it will blow up because It gets so hot sometimes I have to turn it off
