One thing that my Pixel 2 does is to complain that when I use my podcast app (Podcast Addict) that not only that app but also GSAM pro is using battery in the background. Now I can make the message go away by telling it to ignore the podcast app (which after all IS using CPU into the background) but I'm wondering about GSAM.
Now as far as I can tell the warning is only there exactly as long as I'm listening to the podcasts. And neither is using much CPU since usage is less than 1% over 30 minutes. But the warning makes me think.
I use GSAM primarily for displaying battery temperature and an estimate of expected battery life. Mostly I'm looking for warning of a rogue process sucking down CPU time. To a lesser extent I use it for the phone signal strength graph.
Are there better tools to do this kind of monitoring than what I'm using? Something that provides overall statistics without getting involved with charting all CPU activity and become a CPU load itself?
