So coming from a bb im use to doing battery pulls on the daily... today i took my X out of its case pulled the battery door off and pulled out my battery. Its the first time i've done it since i've had it! While looking at it i noticed the strip containg the lil red x's was missing. I looked on my phone and sure enough it was stuck to the phone. Not sure how it happened. The reason i ask if it voids any type of warranty is im expecting a brand new replacement ( earpiece cracks and vibrates when im on a call) and have to return the one im currently using. If anyone can give me advice i would appreciate it!

You dont even have to pull the battery. Pressing the button on the top and powering off the phone is actually turrned off, not like bb where a battery pull is the only way to shut it down fully.

i understand that now! force of habit! But does the strip missing mean anything?

If it's just your battery with the problem, then it shouldn't affect anything at all. If it does, just buy a new OEM battery and you'll be good to go.

That actually happened to me as well, and I only did pop the top part off, my guess is when the phone gets hot that foam piece there gets sticky and the little sticker with the x's is stuck to it.

so i can take it that its no big deal? When i return it to verizon i dont want there to be any reason for them to try and charge me full price just cause of a battery.

I'm not saying that it's no big deal. You never know with these places. Take the battery out of your brand new replacement if you want and put it in the one you're returning (worst case scenario).

if you're getting a certified like new replacement then the new phone won't come with a battery anyways, so there is no issue, if you are getting a brand new phone and are worried about it, just keep your battery and return the new one with your old phone.

its a brand new phone, so i think i will just keep my battery. Thanx for the insight!

Red "X" = Good

I just got off the phone with Verizon support. PLEASE do not call if you have red "x" on the end of your battery or the sticker on the bottom left of the battery/sd card compartment. That is normal. IF you have moisture exposure those x's disappear and the sticker turns pink.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled chatter... :)

If it's not too much to ask Jigmeister, could you kindly take some pics of this red/pink X that you're talking about? I've heard some talk of a moisture sticker to tell if you took your Droid X for a few laps around the pool or not, but don't know what you guys are talking about. Thanks

it's a white sticker on the end of your battery (next to the metal contacts) it's white with a bunch of pink x's on it. when it gets wet, the ink runs and the x's turn the white backing all pink.

it's a pretty standard sticker that's on a lot of phones...

Re: Red "X" = Good

My battery sticker keeps sticking to the foam pad that it touches in the phone body. I had it replaced by verizon, and now it happened to a second battery. Arg.

atleast its in a spot "inside" the phone. unlike the iphone that has one in the headphone jack, and the charging plug. one drop of sweat, and its done!

So what you are telling me is the are sending me a new phone for no reason? (My storm2 ones were all white, hence why i brought it up to the rep)
Now i feel bad that someone out there is going to have to wait longer for their x!

Same thing happened to me yesterday......i bet its going to be a common occurence. If you have any trouble you will have a good argument that this is a design flaw.

why are you taking your battery out?

Same thing happened to mine. I take mine out to swap it with my spare for those times that I'm travelling.

^^ what Cory said. Also managed to completely freeze the phone (screen?) up a couple times. Holding power or home buttons will cause the phone to vibrate as if the power or app switcher windows came up, but the screen shows no change. Yank that battery!
