Is the Beats Audio setting universal ? In other words does the program being enabled make the sound enhanced (on the speaker and headphones) on all Audio programs? I plan on using BOTH the HTC(preinstalled on Phone) Music player, AND Google Play Music programs. It make's a difference. If you have 46GB of Music like I do - a 64GB is necessary unless Google Play Music can be streamed with the benefit of Beats Audio Boom Sound. Also does Pandora play with the Beats enhancement?

Yes it is enabled on Google Music, and Pandora

I dont have the phone, but beats audio is just a dedicated software tool in the phone, so i would imagine it would go throughout every area of the phone in terms of sound "enhancement". Maybe not in games but im just spectating here, but i would definitely go so far as to say it would be used in all music apps, unless you get a music app with a dedicated Equalizer. The thing is that the beats toggle is in settings, not any specific app, so i would think it would cover everything across the board as far as sound goes

Great to hear !! Now I'll have plenty of memory for Zoe, 1080 vids etc. The front stereo speakers are the #1 reason that I want this phone and am leaving the iPhone 5 behind. The last phone to come close was the Blackberry Bold 9000, or the HTC Surround- and I could not use a windoze phone for more than 2-3 days.

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone else find the sound is terrible without beats audio on? I wonder does this contribute to the user "thinking" the difference is substantial when in fact its not really, because compared to other phones the difference isnt anything great but if your just doing an on/off comparison on the one the difference is more noticeable!!

The Andantech review did an audio breakdown and surprisingly found that the sound quality/output is a little bit better with Beats OFF than with it on. So maybe it's placebo, maybe it's your One. Either way I don't think there should be that big of a difference between Beats and no Beats.

I just did a test with my HTC One.. the speakers without Beats gets distorted when you turn it up to 100% sounds a bit normal to me.. but also sounds flat just like another other cell phone speaker..

With Beats on it sounds more clear and crisp when at 100% kinda just lvl off the highs and lows..

Regardless it sounds great compared to any other smartphone out there..

So beats audio actually makes the sound quality worse????? whaaaaa lol

Well according to the hard numbers from anand tech.. yes but then again sound quality is subjective for the most part so its hard to just look at numbers and come to a conclusion. Beats turned down the db amount by like 5db or something and with beats off it showed better range, but that doesnt mean it had more clarity

Sound quality is probably subjective here. With Beats on you're getting more sound equalizers going on in the background, which for most translates to a better listening experience. With Beats off, the One is indeed a shade louder.

Played with the phone in the store. No doubt it's the best speakers on any phone.
