Before you decide to plunk down for the wireless charging orb, watch this ...

What did you do to stop the slipping? It shouldn't overcharge, if it does send it back.

Or judging by first post and blatantly bashing a google product, I don't expect a answer to how you stopped the slipping.

Both the phone and the charger get a little warm (not hot in my exp), WTH does one expect? It's inductive charging. Some heat buildup is normal.

Mine doesn't slip at all, here's why:

  • I clean it every couple of weeks with a pet hair roller (disposable sticky paper sheets), picks up most of the lint and dust that the orb collects.
  • Blow it off with compressed air afterwards, to get the rest off.
After this, it's like new, sticky as honey, and my phone sticks and charges lickety-split (20% - 100% in < 2 hours).

Anyone who thinks their's is a POS, PM me. I'll take good care of it for ya. :P

Also had slippage problems with just glass back, to the point I couldn't trust it anymore. But I seem to have solved it without religious cleaning.

Orb is not magnetic, uses a grippy polymer to adhere. Use a little bit of pressure when you place the phone, say about as much as you'd use to press an elevator button and adherence/charging time improves dramatically.

Mine had slipping problems after cleaning, applying significant pressure, etc until I replaced it. The replacement unit has been much better, with no real problems. Some Orbs are definitely better than others when it comes to adherence, and if you're having an issue get it replaced.

INteresting. I've got 4 orbs now, and none of them have slipping issues, with a matte Poetic Palette back cover. Maybe the manufacturing process had a glitch for early units.

Two at home and one at the office. (Sold one to a colleague.) Using Nova Launcher and Llama, I have Clock Plus Daydream come on only at work as if I've docked. Thanks again to all the boo-hoo reviews on YouTube and the interwebs, I got mine for roughly $50 average on eBay. B-)

Just use a pet hair roller and compressed air, use a little pressure when seating, and they work great.

Had mine for a while now. No slippage at all. I have a xtreme guard on the back to keep the glass from scratches. I use a cheap dollar store sticky lint roller to clean it. I have a very sheddy dog and it does collect the fur, but the sticky roller works wonders!
