I can't believe that Samsung can only sell me a 4G Note 10+ but I can order a 5G on ebay no problem.
I found out that my phone carrier launched 5G this week and it is in my area and included free in my current plan only to find out that only the 4G version is offered here by Samsung directly (for now anyway)
I really do want the Note 10 plus but I would have to compromise on the 5G and also on 256gb storage compared to the 512gb on my Note 9 AND pay 1119.00 Euro for the privilege, that's WITHOUT a single penny discount or promotion item thrown in.

That's annoying to say the least.
Well like you say there is no incentive to ordering from Samsung with there being no promotional items AGAIN!!
I don't have 5g here yet or a plan to support it so it's not an issue with me but it's your choice to shop around and get the best deal on a 5G phone.

pre-order now cancelled..... not really happy about it but it is just stupid paying full whack 1119.00 only to compromise on two fairly big points when what I really want is just around the corner, if they could at least have just charged me more for *upgrading* I would have been happy enough.

If you plan to keep your phone for several years, I definitely don't blame you for canceling your pre-order. 5G is probably still at least a year away from really making any difference to end users, but most tend to keep their phones for at least 2 years. If you're in that camp, there would come a time in which you wish you had a 5G variant.

Why don't you just order it from eBay if its there?

I probably will but it won't be here the 23rd and I'm going away for a month on the 24th, anyway I cancelled and refund should be in my account in 24-48 hours.
I'll have a look in the shops while away too, you never know

Verizon has the exclusive on all Note 10 5G. Thats probably the reason why you cannot order for your carrier on Samsung.com

Sorry, should have said I'm in Europe Ireland, thing is I can order it from Samsung UK

I'm away for a month so will have to wait anyway, pre-order was only chance of getting one before my holidays

Yeah, your 5G issue is probably different then the United States. The United States, 5G won't be much for a couple years yet, even the cities that have it now is spotty and been reported that it's not up to par there either. The speeds are not where they say they should be. Definitely not worth paying more for a 5G phone or pay more for your plan right now, but hey, if you want to say you have the latest, it's your money. Not to mention, the S10 5G phones are having heat issues. They think they fixed that in the note 10+ version, we'll see, but I'm not going to be the guinea pig.

This. It only makes any sense buying a 5G variant now if you plan on keeping the phone for 3 years or more.
