Was just wondering if Linpack is reliable benchmark test? I ran on three devices one is incredible and it got 29-31mflops. 2nd was og Droid rooted running stock 2.2.1 stock kernel it got 8-10 mflops. and 3rd was my X it got 13-14 mflops why is the x which is newer than incredible same proc speed only getting 13-14 and it is getting 29-31?

Different benchmark programs utilize different parts of the phone. There is no be-all end-all benchmark program. Generally, a few programs should be used to get an overall idea of relative performance. I think that most people prefer to use Quadrant to benchmark Android phones because it tests a variety of elements.

Ill have to test incredible on quadrant next time I see my buddy and compare them, just curious why linpack shows incredible as 3x faster

The Incredible and the X both have 1 GHz processors. Linpack only measures the floating point operations per second. That's it. It's not the best measure of a phone's capabilities.

Quadrant tests the ability to read, write, encode HD, and perform 2D and 3D graphical operations. It's a better overall assessment.

Thanks for the info on linpack. Tried out quadrant and scored 1400 is that good it showed a stock DX 2.2 way lower than that why

Benchmarks are great and all and I run them but to me, as log as the phone runs the way I want it to run, im happy.

Im stocked with my DX and am very happy with it wouldn't change for any other phone out right now, just bored and playing with the incredible and decided to see how they stacked up to each other and did linpack and was like wtf lol

The only drawback with the DINC was batt life and size for me. I will go on record saying the INC is a faster device at processing than the DX. Sure, they have the same clocked processor but that doesn't matter. I have one with me now and it is clear, hands down, the difference in performance. I won't even talk about the Fascinate because that was equally impressive.

Yes, I think the DINC may have a more efficient processor, but the X has a better GPU. Depending on one's use, one or the other may be the better phone. The DINC for non-gaming tasks and the X for gaming/entertainment.

I would say moto blur is slowing the device down. I noticed DINC was faster but once I installed launcher pro, it was just as quick as DINC.

Agreed
