I have read & read & read & want to know what's the benefit or advantages to flashing a recommended radio for a Rom versus using the stock rooted radio? This is a risky operation with the possibility of bricking the device and I just want to know the advantages before taking this leap.

Flashing a radio is risky business. Or it can be. I've done it once and it was painless and easy. ROM devs will recommend a radio to use because they built their ROM around it so that's why they say that. I've flashed a good majority of the ROMs out there and I only changed the radio once and that was because it was coming from a ROM dev that I have used numerous times before so if he recommended it, I'm going to do it.

When it comes down to it, there are many factors in flashing radio. Location, backhaul, etc. You could flash a radio someone in NYC swears up and down will get you 1 billion MB down and 1 million MB up. Then a different guy in middle of nowhere does it and he gets worse than he had before. It's all kinda wonky and sometimes unnecessary.

Whatever ROM you are going to use, read up on it. Guaranteed someone will ask how it works on the stock radio. If you get good responses offf of that, rock on. If not so good responses come back, I would recommend a different ROM if you aren't comfortable with flashing a new radio. The radio flashing process is a lot easier now. There are threads about it on XDA in case you havne't seen them. Good luck. :)
