Hands down it would have to be CyanogenMod 6.1. CM has always been the standard to live up to in the modding community, and they took it beyond anything else with CM6.1, imo

My personal favorite is Ultimate Droid 2.0. I have tried most of these that are listed on my DInc. and UD blows them away for modding. Cyanogen is right there with it, I just like UD better for my personal taste.

I fond reading through the replies very interesting. I'm not a huge Cyanogenmod fan and it is obviously the run away winner. I am not saying the rom is not worthy of use - it is great, just that I prefer other roms. I'll have to look at it again.

I find I use Liquid Frozen Yogurt the most because he updates he stuff so fast. The rom is responsive, uses Launcher Pro by default, and looks great. My vote goes to Liquid.

If you are on the OG droid, I'd also recommend trying:

Simply Stunning
Bugless Beast
MIUI

Right now I'm running the latest MIUI rom and it is responsive and has my favorite keyboard.

I must say that I really like HTC Sense. I'm using SteelH's ROM since it's beginning and I really like it. CyanogenMod v6.1 is also very good but, I'm sticking to HTC Sense.

Thought I posted but did not see it, sorry if this is repeat.. I have tried several but I keep going back to MIUI. The ability to label folders wins it over CM for me, along with the best battery life (for me). I hope that MIUI devs will bring the landscape rotation that is in CM over. The sense roms are nice but I really like the functionality of the AOSP roms..
