Alright folks it is that time, college students, elementary, middle and high school students are all starting school are going to start soon. I know there are some students who frequent Android Central such as myself (Finance major, starting my second semester of college today).

So I ask members here, what do you think are the best apps for students to download on their Android device right now?

I'll start:

Adobe Reader to view PDFs and to convert any PDFs to word format:

CloudMagic for email, they handle all email accounts including exchange with push notifications:

Pocket for reading any research articles or to save anything you need or want to read later:

PushBullet to have your phone notifications on your computer, and to push any files, pics, video, locations, or web links between your computer and phone:

OneNote or Evernote for notes, you can also use both these services to syn files, and pics as well as type up notes or create lists:

OneDrive for storage and backups for anything:

Google Drive for the sane thing:

Google Calendar go out down reminders for any assignments, due dates and class times and schedules and any other appointments:

Netflix for entertainment on the go because you'll have some downtime eventually:

So your turn, what are the best apps a student may need for school?

Wolfram Alpha can come in handy for higher level math. I got it for calc class. We'll see if I actually use it once school starts again.

Sent from my Galaxy S4 running SlimKat 4.4.4

Well obviously I recommend an affordable phone plan, particularly T-Mobile MVNO, like Brightspot Mobible, GosmartMobile and Ultra Mobile, or the T-Mo $30 plan. Then supplement it with a VOIP option like Vonage.

I don't know how much this pertain to academic, but some of these apps I use for practical purposes are:
DroidEdit (code editor)
Google Translate
Moon Reader or Cool Reader
Smart Tools
Unit Converter Ultimate

"WolframAlpha" is going to be extremely useful for physic and calculus students.

For K-12, definitely "Math Formula Wizard" and maybe "Learn Physics". Of course, they'll be good apps on Periodic table as well.

"lynda.com" is great for learning videos also.

Also definitely get a good note program like "Google Keep" or "ColorNote".

Sorry my choices probably aren't too compelling, since I do all my school work on the computer or books. Phones and tablets usually just detract me from doing real work.

nice list, couldn't imagine of another app I'm using that is helpful for students.
Or actually, what about a client app for Coursera?

Octave for Android hasn't been mentioned yet! I consider Octave to be useful whenever arithmetic and a little bit Linear Algebra is needed.
