So I'm on the road on a vacation trip from Houston Tx, my city, to Chihuahua Mexico, and I charged my hours before I started driving. Used my phone heavily before , then I've been on the road for 6 hours and I kept using it for GPS, Bluetooth audio on my car with Spotify nonstop, service going in and out on small rural areas, social media and gaming, and for the very first time in a phone since the Note 4, 5, 6, 8, S6, S8+ and S9+ that I've owned, I pulled 8hrs of SOT. This phone is just jaw-dropping in all aspects, and its barely been 2 days since I've had it.

PS. I have the S10+ Snapdragon T-Mobile

How's your battery experience so far?

this is my first actual day of use and I'm kinda worried it's looking like 10% for every hour of use and around 1% for non use.. my XR gives me around 7+ hours of screen time so my fingers are crossed, Tom's guide says it should last roughly an hour more

I just took this screen shot. Not bad after one day's use.

Maybe you all can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm not using the highest resolution, been using it about a half hour this morning and I'm at 96% already

My first charge I got 5 hours, 40 mins screen on time but i’ In UK so it’s different processor.

Nothing just don't display the battery percent in the status bar and you'll avoid battery anxiety. The phone is going to last full day, just use it normally without worrying about it

I'm in the same boat.. it seemed like my XR would go for 2 hours in the morning and hardly lose anything at all. been unplugged for 3 hours and already at 83% .. battery stat says my screen time is only an hour

Battery continues to be terrible for me. Down to 20% from a full charge and except for taking 5 pics at a birthday party I didn't even take it in my hands.

AOD is on, don't know if they kills BL that fast? Also it's the Exynos version

Galaxy phones have never had good battery standby times. But so far I've been impressed with the s10+ I'm still at 78% after a day and half of light usage.

How much drain do you notice per hour when not in use, as well as overnight?

Mine is very good. Hasn't run low. Yesterday I was at 50 percent battery with 6 hours of SOT at that point. Today I'll try to run it low in attempt of getting 12 SOT. Best battery life I've seen in a phone and my S8+ was good.

the first day or so, battery usage will be bad - after Smart Switch, my phone downloaded, updated & optimized apps, then downloaded a 456 MB update that required another optimization. Also, it hasn't been a full week of usage for anyone who got their phone on release day, so there hasn't been time for phones to "learn" usage patterns yet.

Alternatively, you could have an app that's draining battery. Have you checked for that?

I also find that it is important to look at the totality of what you get from the battery at the end of the day.

Worrying about how much percentage you lose an hour is silly. If the phone is getting you through a full day... That's what it's suppose to do.

Yeah I've learned that through the years. The per minute loss is based on service quality and what app you're using in that instant. It's the total at the end that matters.

My phone already learned my patterns and it gives me anywhere from 6 to 8 hours of SOT. It's just amazing.

Right, I understand. However, when everyone is in here saying they are getting 42 hours of SoT and 4.5 days off the charger it'd be reasonable to understand why I'm questioning why I'm getting 4 hours.

Yes, I used hyperbole. You get the point.

Battery life is always great with a new Galaxy. Enjoy it while you can.

Battery is new.
The memory isn't filled yet with all sorts of jump.
Everything is still optimized.

Give it a year and tell me if it's still so amazing.

I just upgraded from my 3 yr old S7. Battery life has really begin to suck, compared to when it was new. Besides the battery life the phone was still pretty darn good.

That's because everyone has different settings, set up their phone differently, have different apps, different network conditions and many other factors. Honestly don't go about what others are getting, see how it compares to your old phone with similar setting, environment, apps etc. That'll give you better idea IMO.
