Best Buy $18/Month deal (Verizon)

My daughter needs a new phone, has been using an LG recently and wants to get back to the Samsung universe. This seems like a really good price for one of the best phones of 2016, any thoughts from this forum on the downsides of going this direction?

I bought my phones for $18mo from Verizon back in December.

This is just for the phone, of course. You also have to pay for the data plan and whatnot...

Also, the $18 doesn't go into effect immediately. Your first bill or two will be for the whole $33 or whatever for the phone and when the discount kicks in they will give you a lump-sum discount on the next bill.

For instance, I bought five phones, two GS7E and three Moto Play, and my first two months were almost $400, then the next was something like $89.

Then after that, my payments were like $258 a month.
