Best Buy - Note 7 Exchange - Wouldn't Give Me New Box???

I didn't even ask they gave me the replacement in the box with everything, and told me to give them the phone and keep everything including the s-pen. No hassles everything went smoothly.

Did mine at sprint just took back the old box left the manual, sim lock thingy, and empty headphone box(not sure where the headphone went i dont use em). kept the stylus in my car.

I did get my new box and accessories but it was odd/awkward. The whole time the rep kept both boxes on his side of the counter even after the phones was transferred. At one point he was like oh hey dont forget about this and handed me a stylus. Looked down at the new phone and noticed it was gone. (He opened the new box soi dont know, did the new note 7 come with the stylus in the phone or in the box?)

During the smart switch i decided to purchase the lg tone platinum, sales rep put them in a bag and handed it to me. but didn't put my new box in it. finally the smart switch finished and the new box was still on his side of the counter. so i asked. ummm do i get to keep the box. He was like, "oh yeaaaa here sorry." i have a feeling he was trying to keep it, hoping i would forget about it or not want it. Either way i walked out with a jackpot smile.

My local sprint just wanted the phone! I walked out with a new phone and all accessories.. The entire time i was getting them exchanged i thought they was going to keep all the goodies in the box but they didn't

My local best buy didn't ask for anything but the phone. Since i was changing the phone color, I didn't see a need to keep a black s-pen with a coral blue phone. But then again it probably would've looked nice. Hmmm.

I don't understand why you didn't bring back the box and accessories.

As a good friend of mine once said, there's no right answer to the wrong question. If BB employees would bother to stay informed about their own policies over this fiasco, there wouldn't be "issues" like this. There's nothing to assume. They've already stated that those things are not required and that BB employees are not supposed to keep those things. All customers need to bring is the phone itself, in whatever condition it is in. This is a recall on the phones. The replacements will come with original packaging. Samsung is not requiring anything to return except the phone.

I went to my local BB on Monday to see if they had any of the exchange N7.1's, They did and I was never even asked for the box. it was in the car, I was glad I had it with me and even happier that I didn't need it.

Cheers,
BR

Each store seems different. I got a box with all of the accessories. They charged me $20 extra because the sales tax in Texas was $20 more than the tax in Pennsylvania, so they let me keep the S pen from the old phone.

Damn...shoulda kept the s pen!

Opposite for me. I exchanged my Note 7 and did not give them the old box, since thought they exchanged back whatever you return. All I wanted was the phone replaced. I got a call to come get the new Note 7's box, so now have two of all stuff and two boxes.

All BB said Samsung cares about is getting the phones back. Samsung rep said same thing.

I guess it depends on how informed the associates/store managers are, regardless what store/carrier it is. Their attitude and demeanor can be a factor as well. I've heard a lot of horror stories on T-Mo's stores, but where I went to, everybody was so helpful and on top of things.
About 20 minutes wait time, less than 5 minutes to process actual exchange. Not only I get to keep all accessories and the s-pen from the old phone, the sales associate also replaced and installed my Zagg protector covers at no cost without even me asking them.

Best Buy's own notes to their stores tell them that they only need the phone back - nothing else with it - but as you can see, your experience may vary depending on which store you go to because while some stores are following that line - I would venture to guess that the majority of the Best Buy stores wrongly require you to bring the box and accessories back. They did it to me despite me having printed paperwork from BB online that said only the phone was needed for the return, but just to end the ordeal, I gave them the box but kept a few of the things in the box knowing that they wouldn't even notice.

This is Best Buy's biggest achilles' heel. For a national big box chain, I have not seen a more disorganized network of stores that operate under their own rules despite direction from their corporate office. You'd think each store was a franchise that is not required to follow all corporate policies. I say this as a very loyal BB customer (never again for mobile phones or pre-orders). They really **** the bed with the way they handled the recall overall.

Wah ha ha that makes NO sense what so ever.
"We want this cardboard, but you can have the accessories"

I exchanged mime today at T-Mobile and they gave me my box with everything. Before I left, she even gave me my old s-pen so now I gave two!

Best Buy seems to be doing things their way.
