I have one ready for instore pick up but I've read conflicting reports. If I buy one from Best Buy it's the same as buying from Google. Works with AT&T either way. Updated from Google? Bootloader locked? Just not sure if I should get it from Best Buy now or wait until Google Store gets more in. Thanks!

The Best Buy Pixel from my understanding is the Verizon branded phone.

This means locked bootloader and possibly with 3 removable Verizon apps.

After playing with the Pixel XL, it is a worthy upgrade from the 6P. It is snappy, takes very good pictures.

Is there any problem with software updates when using a Pixel on AT&T?

Depends, if you buy direct from google, you'd get any updates direct from google. I'm not sure about the verizon version being sold thru best buy. Even though its a at&t sim, its still a Verizon phone so you may not get updates as quickly.???

I'm definitely curious about that, as they have a few at my local Best Buy, and I was thinking of picking one up. I figured I'd use it on AT&T for a bit before deciding if I wanted to switch over from FI. But if it's going to cause update problems or major delays (whether on AT&T or FI), maybe I should just be a bit more patient and order it from Google instead.

Everything I have read says both versions get updates at same time from Google

Google agrees! The company told Ars "OS updates and monthly security patches will be updated on all Pixel devices (Verizon and non-Verizon versions) simultaneously."
Update: Verizon says its Pixels will get updates at the same time as Google’s | Ars Technica

First and foremost, all operating system and security updates to the Pixel devices will happen in partnership with Google. In other words, when Google releases an update, Verizon phones will receive the same update at the same time (much like iOS updates). Verizon will not stand in the way of any major updates and users will get all updates at the same time as Google.

I got one at BB. Slapped in an AT&T sim, and it worked fine. Got a software update notification with the AT&T sim card. Maybe only restriction on updates if you have Verizon sim installed? I don't know, it is unlocked so if you aren't on their network it may not matter?

Doesn't matter from what we have seen so far. I've seen Verizon and Google store bought Pixel phones getting updates together.

With that said, I haven't received an update, but my phone is a day old. I am running NDE63N. So I dunno.

I got 2 at Best Buy, running on T-mo. .

Absolutely no issues, even got the 325.00 credit from T-mo for each.

Due to the way Google does roll outs, 1 phone did get the November update (wife's phone) about 4 days before mine did. . Which, quite frankly, bothered the hell out of me.

But was a Google roll out issue, nothing to do with the phone or provider.

If I had not had 2 phones, I would never have know they roll it out in phases over a week or so

Tells me what I need to know. Thank you!
