I imagine there is nothing exactly for it, so what is the best universal car mount that would be compatible with the Nexus S?

I was thinking about getting this Proclip mount. I already have the car mount in my car with a Palm Pre Touchstone attached to it. Now I can replace the Touchstone with Nexus S swivel mount.

Proclip Nexus S Mount
(The Proclip mounts require two parts - a car mount and then a holder that matches your phone. Together the two can be rather pricey.)

I have a concern which I haven't figured out yet. The Sprint Nexus S is a little thicker than the T-Mobile one, so I need to make sure that it'll fit.

There's a bunch of info in an old thread at xda-developers:
Pro-clips thread for Nexus S

Quick highlights:
The holder will likely not work if the phone has a thick case around it.
The headphone jack is still accessible, though a little tight on the powered version.
Charger in the powered version is rated to 1 amp.

They are maybe waiting until the phone actually comes out to see if it will fit. It is not adjustable and only fits just the phone so they would have to make sure. I like the adjustable ones are much better because you can use them for other things such as a portable GPS or another phone down the line.

The main reason I prefer the purpose-built holder is that, in this case you don't have to connect the power wire after you connect the phone. I'm hoping to also attach my headphone cable (connected to the car stereo) directly to the mount so that both will be connected when I drop the phone into the holder.

I've been charging and playing audio from my phone for a few years now (HTC Mogul and then Palm Pre), and it's always a pain that you have to pull over, wait for a light or be distracted when driving just to connect the charging cable or audio jack.

I can definitely see how it's a little bit of waste to invest in something that will only last as long as the phone. I'm just tired of reaching down and fumbling for cables.

Proclip also has a Universal Mount at the bottom of the page I linked above.

i see proclip has a built in cig lighter charger on one holder. does anyone know if this cable can be swapped out for a regular a/c plug? i have two cig lighters being used now-gps and xm. i use my touchstone via regular plug (yes reg a/c) on my sienna via extension cord under the mats. the outlet is in second row. unless the nexus gps is so good i can get rid of my garmin!

I just went to the Proclip website and I couldn't find anything that had a built in cig lighter. I have seen others on ebay that plug into a cig lighter and have a long neck but I have also read the reviews that says after time they tend to fall out of the socket with your phone attached. Not good....

I think the previous poster meant this:
Proclip mount with charger

It plugs into the cigarette lighter but is mounted to the dash of your car. My car mount is pretty solid right now, it clips into the dash. I have my touchstone attached to it with double sided tape. I don't have any experience with the phone side of the mount from proclip though.

Anyone have a good recommendation for one that can fit both a Nexus S and a Palm Pre (not at the same time)?
