Best case for Nexus 5?

Re: best case for nexus 5?

I've got the Sedio Dilex ("active") case and it's a little bulky but very well protected. I like the way it works but the rubber is kind of annoying at times because it sticks to my pocket basically turning my pocket almost inside out when I take it out and it's difficult to "slide" back into my pocket.

I would love to have something with this protection that's a little less "sticky".

I've read its wireless compatible, but am curious if it has a screen protector or not. Another case I'm looking at: http://www.wirelessground.com/ballistic-nexus-5-sg-maxx-series-case-with-holster-black.html

I'd prefer to have have screen protector and a kickstand, but would sadly part with a kickstand over the screen protector (owned evo's previously and loved the feature). I'm also looking for a wireless charger compatible case as well.

I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations.

I grabbed the ballistic case. My assessment is this: the rubber material is a lint magnet. The case definitely for increasing protection and durability of the phone, after a few weeks of use its brought me peace of mind. If the hard plastic back of its taken off the phone phone will wireless charge on nexus brand wireless charger (N5 model). A bit of a PITA, but the sturdiness makes up for it.

I heard Diztronic Matte Black TPU case is also good. It is a soft case which has a matte feel in hands just like the back side of black Nexus 5.

My Nexus 5 is a caffeine.

Re: best case for nexus 5?

i'd have to vote for the speck candyshell case. the available colors are pretty hideous but my wife loves the black/yellow case. its a nice tight fit, has good protection with rubber lining on the inside, the buttons work well, and does not add too much to the bulk of the phone. my wife also likes the slightly curved sides which helps with grip...

i'd buy one if they had an all black one or something with a bit more subtle colors... for now, my black nexus bumper case will have to do.

Wait I'm confused, isn't it the other way around for the spigen cases? The Neo Hybrid is slimmer than the Slim Armor. Slim Armor has dual layer whereas the neo hybrid doesn't. So.... how can it be bulkier than the one with the dual layer?

Nope, I had a Neo Hybrid before aaaaand it was way too bulky for me. Just curious about Slim Armor since it's named "Slim".

My Nexus 5 is a caffeine.

Re: best case for nexus 5?

+1000 for the Spigen Slim Armor case. love, love, love it! Well worth the $20.

Re: best case for nexus 5?

i bought the Spigen Slim Armor case also and so far so good. i suggest you to go for check it first and if you like it, you should buy one. but i also bought the Gearmaxx dual pack screen protector screen protector as to guard the screen. my friend told me that Nexus screen is easily to get scratch, so i just bought it for protection.
hope this can help you. cheers :D

Re: best case for nexus 5?

I also purchased the Slim Armor - but, am sooo disappointed. There is a problem with the power button which makes using the phone a pain in the rear-end. One really has to press down to use it and unfortunately, this causes pressure on the other side so that when trying to turn the phone off, you actually just lower the volume. This has been a problem for a while -- see Amazon comments. However, the product still has not been corrected - at least my case has the same issue.

I have the seidio surface case. So far it has been working well. The kickstand has surprisingly come in handy.

Re: best case for nexus 5?

I just got my phone 2 days ago, activated it 1 day ago. The case I had waiting for it is the Ballistic SG Maxx, purchased off of ebay. I got the case/holster set for just under $30 with shipping included.

Not a slim case by any means, i needed a case that would provide a fair amount of bump/drop protection. I feel it doesn't add the same level of "extra bulk" that my seidio convert case did for my Galaxy Nexus. The included holster holds it in very securely.

Its drop rated from wait height to ear height. Overall, I'm happy with it.

That's too bad. I risked buying the Slim Armor when it first came out, knowing about the button issue. My case turned out fine. Have you contacted Spigen and get your case exchanged? It's a nice case if you can get it sorted out.

Do you (or anyone else with the Slim Armor) know if the Slim Armor is compatible with wireless charging, in particular the Nexus wireless charger? I've been eyeing this case but don't want to lose compatibility with my wireless charger.

I have heard it is compatible with the wireless charging. I'm still waiting for my case to arrive and when it does I can test it out for you.

And for the button issues spigen is well aware of the issue and had replaced the defected units with the updated version.

Thanks! If you could, update this one you get it. If it is compatible, this is the one I'll be buying.

Just got my Diztronic Black Matte TPU Case. And it's awesome, very slim, not bulky at all and it feels good in hand. The back of this softcase feels like the back side of black Nexus 5. I think Diztronic is quite underrated.

I just got it today and it does indeed work with the QI charger. But I am a bit disappointed with this case. The one I got isn't as red as it was shown in the picture and the buttons are not very feedback friendly like the neo hybrid. My friend has the Champagne gold one and it has good tactile feedback. These are the two biggest issues for right now. In real life the color closely resembles the orange street cones. I want to exchange for a black or white one but I don't have the money right now to send it back.. :(

But again, it DOES work with the wireless charger.

I was planning on getting the black one, so I hope the buttons have some decent feedback. But thank you very much for your comments on the wireless charging. If I may ask, what kind of charger do you have? I have the Nexus one.

No problem, let me know if the black one gets good feedback because I might either exchange or buy a different one. I've got the RAVPower QI charger with the built in 5,000mAh battery inside.
