Best Cases for Eris

I just purchased an Eris and was wondering what the best case for the device is. I am leaning towards an Otterbox Commuter, however due to the battery life, I may need to change batteries during the day. I haven't seen a Seido Inno Case up close and personal, I would really appreciate any constructive feedback!

I would recommend the Seidio Innocase II ... easy to get on and off, and it's very durable without adding too much bulk to the device. Worth every penny.

Personally I am a huge fan of the Otterbox cases, they tend to offer the most protection, and are still rather stylish. They add a little bulk to the device, but make it easier to handled.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I had an Otterbox Defender for my 8330, I loved that case. The only problem is with the battery life on the Eris, I am thinking about either getting a spare battery and carrying it with me.

I have a couple of questions:

1. With an Otterbox, is it possible to easily change the battery?

2. What about the Seido extended battery, if I were to get one, do they make a shell that would cover the phone including the 3400 mAh battery? (that would be so sweet!!!!:D)

EDIT: Seido doesn't make a rugged case that will fit the extended battery. Darn. So, I am going to get the cheaper of the two options... Thanks for your help!

just curious. why did you buy an old phone like the eris? Granted I have one but I bought it months ago and in hindsight would possibly have waited for something a little newer. Is verizon still offering it?

Even more puzzling is I purchased used!:o Verizon still offers the phone, but is almost giving them away on two year contracts. The issue was my 8330 was constantly having issues (media card had to be formatted every other day, browser was not functioning correctly) and I have another five months until my new every two. I was eligible for upgrade, and I could have purchased a new Incredible, however, that would mean a two year contract to get the phone for $200, which I was unwilling to do given the LTE roll out. Who wants to be locked in for two years when there are many cool things on the horizon?

So, for $180, I purchased a Eris. I still have my upgrade, didn't spend $350 for a one year contract (which was out of my budget, when accessories are factored in) and I have a more capable phone than my 8330. And I am not locked in beyond my current contract.

Seems odd, but I think I will be happy long term not having extended the contract. I am considering switching to Sprint anyway, as it is much cheaper, even with the $10 surcharge for the EVO. I love Big Red's network, I really do, but the lower price is so tempting!

One word of caution/advice with whatever case you, or anyone else, end up getting - if you plan to use something like Swype, which I use, the case can sometimes cause problems when trying to swipe the letters on the edges - particularly in portrait mode and if you're trying to do double-letters. Not a big deal, but something to perhaps factor in.
