Best Cases for the Samsung Galaxy S8

why would put a case around an $800 phone that has gorilla glass 5 and make it look like any other phone?? it's shatterproof and waterproof.

It's shatter resistant not shatter proof. Glass will still crack and break. Some feel it necessary to mitigate risk as no matter how careful you are, a drop is bound to happen. In addition, resale values are higher when the device is pristine. The price of a case is less than the insurance deductible or cost of the replacement plus labor to repair.

Grip. Or, rather my old Nexus 5 spoiled me. I want that soft, matte finish.

I went with the Spigen Air Skin. It's very light, thin and the translucent color allows the Arctic Silver back to show. However, based on the S8 drop test videos I've been watching I'm going pick up a Neo Hybrid as well for a little more protection.

You have pictures of side and front?

Teh downside with the speck candyshell and the newer version, the Persidio is that when dropped the screens still tend to shatter. Mobilereviewseh has done drop test with these and they break.

Yep that's what I heard from couple sourced but also heard that Speck was the only case that comes up to the edge glass almost covering it. I'd like that but I currently have a citron UAG case. Think I should stick with this instead of the Speck case? Thanks

I would stick with the UAG case then. They tend to do a lot better on drops. That and the Otterbox Defender. Out of all the cases the Defender, UAG, I Blason Armorbox, and maybe the Unicorn Beetle are the only ones I would trust right now with these phones. The Unicorn Beetle is iffy too as I've seen people get broken phones with those too.

But overall, the Defender and Armorbox look to be the two most protective cases out there for this phone right now.

This is the Nillkin Super Frosted case. I got it this morning. Have used it on other phones and it is pretty grippy with the textured back. On Amazon UK it is listed as Meimeiwu Anti-Slip Slim Fit Frosted Ultra Thin Matte Hard Back Cover Case or it can be ordered directly from Nillkin. I have tried a Spigen Air Skin, a Spigen Thin Fit and this Nillkin on my S8. The Nillkin keeps the phone's aesthetic intact. The Spigen Air Skin is probably best from an aesthetic point of view but the drop protection would be absolutely minimal.

While true that the screen broke in his drop test, he was also testing their marketing fluff. That screen broke on a face first drop at 10ft. Not sure that makes them bad just not as good as the packaging says. Additionally, it still ranks 2nd in his top 10 cases list.

Mobile Reviews Eh is an awesome site and I've grown to trust his reviews.

How are you liking the Neo Hybrid? Does it add a lot of width? I'm considering picking one up.

I don't own the Persidio which now replaeces the Candyshell, but from the looks and feel of it, it does not feel nearly as protective as the Candyshell was. Looks a lot more flimsy too.

I highly recommend these wooden/plastic cases made by company called Lastu. They make cases for the most popular phones on the market.
I use one with my S8 and I love it. It's pretty slim and it covers edge screen well too. You can also get your logo carved on the wood if you want. Although there should be little more texture on covered buttons, they work very well. They ship worldwide and shipping is free in Europe
