best deal for adding a nexus to my plan?

my brother is on our parents' plan. i am on my own plan. he is eligible for an upgrade and has grandfathered unlimited data. i want to move him to my plan and get him a galaxy nexus for the cheapest price possible. I would change my plan to a family plan and add him to my plan.

on verizonwireless.com it seems i could choose the cheapest family plan but would be required to pay 299 for the phone.

amazon wireless has a deal for 99 dollars but i dont think i can change to a family plan and add a line on their site.

any tips/advice?

Just go to amazon, get the phone as a single line plan . So you will have 2 single line plans. As soon as you get the phone and activate it, call verizon, go to www.vzw.com/myverizon or go to a vzw store and have them switch your two single line plans to a family plan.

Or
first switch your phone to a family plan by itself, then when your on amazon ordering the phone, there should be an option to add on to your existing plan.

There are a bunch of ways you could do it.

The only important thing you that you should do is make sure that you assume liability before he upgrades. Because if he upgrades on your mothers plan then switches to yours, it will void the warranty on the phone

You can do that but I think he may lose his unlimited data plan. Call VZW and check to make sure.

Its not a new line, its an upgrade no matter which way you do it if your wanting to keep the unlimited data. im guessing thats an amazon new line price only. and no you wont lose unlimited data doing an assumption of liability.

yeah he would like to be able to keep his number etc. might just have to wait for the price to drop a little
