I am one of the few people alive who do not own a smartphone. I've almost succumbed many times, but I'm basically a cheapskate. so, I'd like to text or message from my tablet to other people's phones.

the texting app I'm currently using on my ipod 3rd gen doesn't allow photos - those have to be sent to an email address. I was wondering if there were any apps out there now that were reliable and also allowed photos.

I use to use textplus gold. It worked great! It gives you a free USA based number to give to your friend and supports sms, mms, and even calls I believe. :)

My friends and I have been using Text plus for a while now.

I have tried text plus. If you send mms, the person on the other end has to open a web link to see the picture. I think you can do voice messages with text plus similar to walkie-talkie but not positive.

The Google Voice support page says they don't support MMS.

Wait a little longer. Google Hangouts might include this in a update.
