Hi, Can someone please post the best fix for the GPS issues on the captivate, using the LBSTestMode fix?

(I cannot seem to install the new updtate just released... yet...)

these settings work the best for me

menu, settings, Location and Security,
check/enable ‘Use Wireless Networks’

Go into LbsTestMode (*#*#1472365#*#*) (using phone dialer)
Go to Application Settings
Enable MS-Based Mode
Increase Accuracy to 100
Turn Skyhook on
Return to the main LbsTestMode menu

Go to SUPL/CP Settings
Select the Serve FQDN Type drop down menu
select AUTO Config

Exit to the dialer and reboot

for faster locks turn wifi off
mine usually locks in 10 seconds or less
tracking seems to work fine driving around town

note:
you can also add a shortcut to lbstestmode if you have launcherpro
press screen and hold
shortcut.. activities.. lbstestmode

thanks. I tried it and it worked like a charm the very first time. afterward it has the same trouble locking on to a fix. It locks and loses lock soon... :(

any idea why?

i've found it holds a lock driving around town for me
BUT
I have noticed that A LOT of things seem to not work as well
the longer the phones been on... if you monitor your free memory in
task killer you'll see it gets lower and lower as some apps dont seem
to release memory when you kill them..
at some point many things can quit working
pop email.. not gmail but the other one
even being able to make a phone call i've seen

at that point nothing to do but restart...

you might also try the alternative settings in the link

do you mean this memory hog happens AFTER the firmware update?

Uninstall your task killer - don't use task killers or do any arbitrary stopping of the services running in the back ground - and I bet after rebooting your phone twice you will find your phone running better for longer periods of time.

After I installed atk and stopped trying to continually maximize my available memory manually my phones performance was much better and my battery life even improved.
