I just got a Nexus 4 a month ago. Looking for a good sounding pair of earbuds for around $ 20.00 or less. Any suggestions ?

Welcome to Android Central!

$20, eh?

Well, take a look at these: JVC HFX1X (also look under the "Customers also bought" section.

I admit it, I'm a self-confessed audiophile and I may have a teensy-weensy bit of audio-snob still left in me. Take a look at the HeadRoom site. If you can spend a little more you may be happy you did.

Sennhieser mx 365...these are really good for 20 price tag on amazon... I ended up buying 2more pairs since I love them and wanted to have a few backups in case the model is phased out :)

Asking the best headphones is like asking what is the best tires for my car... everyone has an opinion and none of them are probably wrong since it is an opinion.

For around $20 I would look at the Sony MDR-EX210 or MDR-EX58V series, Yamaha EPH-20 series, or Sennheiser CX200 headphones, although to be honest I would pony up a few extra bucks because at about the $35-$40 level you can get some really good sounding headphones like the Sony MDR-XB60EX series or SoundMAGIC E10 series (an extremely under-rated headphone in my opinion). I own the SoundMAGIC ones and they are probably the best headphones I have ever owned for the money.

Apple Earpods. Good quality, comfortable, good remote, plus they have a microphone for phone calls. Now $25 on Amazon.

You have a wide range of choice here but I have picked a few that are according to your budget. It doesn't mean they are of low quality either so you can pick any from the list:
1. BlackBerry Premium stereo headset for LG Nexus 4 (14.95 dollars)
2. NoiseHush NX80 (29.95 dollars)
3. Palm Stereo headset (14.95)
LG Nexus 4 Headsets - Android Community Store
You need to put comfort first in choosing any headset. There are Wireless Headsets available but they are a bit expensive with cheapest ranging between 50 and 70 dollars.
You may also look at Bluetooth headset What's the best bluetooth headset in the market today? | Techyv

I know it's almost double the price, but I searched high and low for decent earphones, that a) stay in at the gym/running and b) have play/fwd buttons that work and I ended up from BB with the Sol Republic Jax. I've had them for about 3 months now and love'em. They do all I need as mentioned above, lightweight, pretty good at being tangle free and just sound great.

Would've loved bluetooth ones, but that puts you at the $80+ mark easy. Good luck!

Thanks everyone i don't have a problem spending $ 30-40 on a good pair. But i would be a little worried on having them break or something and being out that money.I have a lot of good choices now to choose from, and other ones I've seen too. Thanks again, Steve

You'll want to try the original "Palm Pre Headset" which goes for $10 or less, its very good quality for the money and I've bought a few to give out to relatives.

I picked up a set of the Skull Candy 50/50's online in the UK for around ?17.99, were hugely discounted on a website over here.

I've had sets of Sony, Phillips, Apple, Sennhieser and Ultimate Ears. The Skull Candy's sound better than all of them...........only thing is though the remote is designed for iPhone/iPod so only pause/play works. I only wanted them for the sound though.

If you can't find the 50/50's on sale the Ink'd range are really good as well.

Andy.

If you are willing to go $35 with shipping, I highly recommend the SoundMAGIC E10 and they come in like 4 color combinations, they are hands down the best earbuds I have owned for under $100 and I purchased them on a whim to replace a set of iBeats that kept cutting out, they easily sounds as good or better.

I have another question...what are the best speakers for my Google Nexus 4 phone? I find that for some reason a lot of speakers don't work with my phone and this one aspect of the phone that I find truly annoying. I too will try to purchase one of the headphones you mention in your threat. Thanks in advance.

Best speakers?!?! Whatever sounds good to you, just plug it in and go... use it in a wide variety of speakers all the time, never had an issue. Although if you are referring to BT speakers, I can't help you there...

You shouldn't have a problem using any speakers with the Nexus 4, regardless of if you're using Bluetooth or the 3.5mm port. Can you tell us what speakers you're trying to use, how you're trying to connect them, and what the result is? This really shouldn't be a problem.

Before we talk about good quality earphones we need to talk about a good quality phone... The nexus 4 has the worst audio quality I've ever heard on a phone

Skullcandy 50/50 is really good. It's cheaper on amazon and lifetime warranty!

I have a pair of Sony MDR-NC7s that I've owned for a number of years and they sound pretty good. However, one would never mistake them for being high-end units.

Personally, I'm not a fan of earbuds (they're ok, but my ears don't like them for very long) and I am a fan of headphones which include active noice cancellation. I love dropping out environmental noise.

Sennheiser CX200 Twist-to-Fit is a good choice. Check this source out. It will provide you with nice options.
