Best Music App? 2016 thread

I have another small feedback. When you are on the now playing screen and the music is paused. If you click on next song it automatically starts. Wouldn't it better if it stays paused?

This is by design. I realize that it comes down to preference though. Some folks like the fact that they don't need to manually tap Play, while others may want it the way you suggested. It's hard to please everyone :)

Thanks. I guess thats fair enough.

Got the dark theme. Loving the App.

I use Poweramp for local playing. After rooting and using one of those sound enhancers you find on Xda it can be pretty epic.

I spend most of my time listening to SoundCloud though. SoundCloud is a treasure chest of remixes some the music doesn't get old. The new Google owned Songza has a pretty nice UI too.

For the purpose #1

It is either PowerAmp for its sound quality, file settings, variety of features.

or JetAudio for its sound quality and simple User Interface

You may want to check out doubleTwist CloudPlayer. It's an advanced alternative to Google Play Music offering the best of both worlds: offline/local playback as well as streaming from Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive. It comes with a 30 day free trial for premium features.

Note: I'm the doubleTwist co-founder :) I have a handful of promo codes to give to anyone who participates in this thread and wants to give it a spin.

I know this is the wrong place to ask, but any plans to add the ability to sort albums by album artist? Those of us with a lot of compilations would really appreciate it.

In the Albums grid view of CloudPlayer, tap on the top right 3-dot menu, then select "Sort By..." which lets you sort by title, artist and a bunch of other options.

PowerAmp. I always say I'm gonna try a simpler app that doesn't have a dated UI, but I always end up slapping the material skin on PowerAmp.

On my phone I got both: Spotify and PowerAmp - but to be honest, nowadays I only use Spotify. For me it's easier and couple of times i discovered there really catchy tunes.

Google Play Music..

I've never liked the Google Play Music app. Last night I tried giving it a try again, this time on my S7 Edge. The sound didn't sound very good so I went and adjusted the EQ settings. I adjusted the treble and bass but at the same time, the volume went lower by at least half of what it was.

The music app on iOS is one reason I still keep an iPhone around. I have always liked that app.

I'm going to give some of the other app suggestions in this thread a try.

I use Google Play Music and Spotify free for music discovery and light listening (I hate spotify's UI, though).

Most of my heavy listening, though, is done via PLEX with my own collection.

I've never had an issue with playback via Bluetooth or wired.

It seems like no matter what app I try, I just can't get the volume output that I could get on my iPhone. I use a wired speaker at my job and with my iPhone, it's loud enough for the whole room to hear. With either my Note 5 or S7 Edge, it's about half that volume. The speaker plugs into the headphone jack.

Any ideas here on what I could be doing wrong or is this just how it is?
