I'm not eligible for an upgrade for many months....many months.

Just for the heck of it, I went to Amazon and went through the whole purchase process indicating I am an existing customer...providing all info to "verify" I am eligible for an upgrade and it went through all the way to the purchase screen indicating a price of $199.

I chickened-out at that point. Will this really work and I can get the phone on my current account, and only that account? Or, is it giving me a new account and, thus, doubling my monthly expenses? I can't believe I can get around the eligible upgrade process this easily.

I just did the same thing. I'm not up until Jan 2011. Does it work??

I wasn't up till Feb 2011, I called customer support, signed another two year and go that price plus half my new every 2. Just call and be nice about it.

Don't know. It clearly would "work" but I'm afraid it was still creating a new Verizon account and I would end up with two. I did it the right way....indicated I was an existing customer...hit the "verify you are eligible" and completed all of the sections and it took me to a purchase screen for $199.

What concerns me is even though I went the "verify" route, you still had to select a plan, select a data plan, etc. That leads me to believe the "verification" did not in fact verify I was eligible to upgrade on my existing account.

Need someone else to be the guinea pig.

I had gone through the forum and it was very interesting. Coming to the topic about the Best online deals. I was at a Costco in Sonoma country recently and they didn't really have any great deals but they are willing to throw in a case, car charger and hands-free device for free. I have no idea if this is done at the verizon stores of not
