sorry if this has been asked before but I did search..

What is the best way to store pictures. I currently have pics saving to my SD card but its getting too full and soon will need to delete but I really didn't want to because they are very old. How can I copy these to a bigger SD card?

I know their is Google photos in which I see pictures stored in, but just this week I saw an email from Google about pictures and something about discontinued in 2021.. i think I deleted it but will review.

I want to be able to keep pictures for many years but just not sure what's the best way.

Samsung cloud?
Google photos
Onedrive?
So many apps and im not that Savy to know what's what or best. TIA

What size is your SD card? You could get a bigger card. Other than that, a cloud based storage system would be your best bet. Pretty sure Samsung Cloud is dead so I'd go with Google.

There is no plan for Google Photos to discontinue their backup feature. You might have been thinking of an email from Samsung talking about Samsung Cloud shutting down, with a plan to transition to Microsoft OneDrive: https://www.sammobile.com/news/sams...amsung has been in the,end on June 21st, 2021.

In my opinion, Google Photos is a great and easy way to back up your photos. If you choose High Quality instead of Original Quality (which is mildly compressed, but I've never been able to tell the difference with the naked eye), you get unlimited backup. (With Original Quality, backups count against your Drive storage allotment.)

Welcome to Android Central!

Since I have a Chromebook, I use Google Drive for all of my important documents, business stuff, and pictures. I love that whatever saves on my Chromebook (documents, etc) will be uploaded to Drive and I can access them on my S10.

If these photos are things that you'd like to be able to access quickly, have you considered making an Instagram account as an additional means of protecting your photos? My cat has an Instagram page where I have photos taken of her with other phones that have long since been deactivated. It's an easy way to know that your photos are safe and can be screenshotted/redownloaded for viewing at any time.

I tested syncing all my gallery photos to OneDrive to see what it looked like. It doesn't keep all the folders I created for sorting. I don't like endless scrolling through a thousand or more photos when I can quickly go to one of my A-Z folders. So for me I guess it's manually backing up in addition to letting Google continue because at least they have my folders in addition to everything in date order.

I use a USB drive and move my photos to my PC every few months and create a back up on 2 separate external hard drives. I have around 1.5Tb worth of photos at this point so cloud storage isn't a cheap option.

Whatever method you choose I'd highly recommend having 2 copies of everything, storage can fail and digital files can easily be lost.

Two copies of everything is a really good idea!

When I plug my hard drive into laptop to backup gallery, many of the folders do not appear. I have 50 plus folders for easy access. 11 of them didn't show up at all and 13 of them show up in the DCIM section including the Camera and Screenshots folders. I don't think this ever happened before. My only thought is making a new folder for all those missing and moving the photos to them. If that doesn't work, moving them into a folder that DOES show up.

Anyone else have this problem? Any other ideas or suggestions? I have Google and Amazon backup currently but want to get ALL folders to copy from my phone to laptop and hard drive by USB.

It might be best if you create a new thread for your question, since the OP's original question was different.
