Thinking ahead to migrating apps and data from my Note 4 to the 6P, what does everyone recommend as the best process and app(s) to use?

I've always had Samsung devices (minus Droid 1-2, but that's been long ago), that most recently its been moving from the S3 to Note 2, 3, and then 4. Kies backup restore combined with Google restore have worked.

With the move from Note 4 to 6P, I'm planning to use Rerware My Backup Pro combined with Google restore. My Backup Pro for the stuff that won't get restored after signing into Google Services on the 6P.

I'm just going to reinstall everything manually. I dont really have many apps that save data locally, most are sign ins to cloud accounts. reinstalling ~80 apps will be somewhat of a pain but I like the feeling of starting fresh on a fresh device.

That's how I've been setting up phones lately. Has anyone tried this with 6.0 yet though?

The reason I ask is with 6.0 they allow for app data to be backed up to the cloud through google. I know the vast majority of apps won't take advantage of this yet but I would be curious to see if they built anything like this in for sms/mms.

The biggest pain for me is losing my messages each time I reset or switch phones. Games, pictures and other things cloud sync just fine but they haven't addressed messaging history yet.

It doesn't help that my phones are encrypted so other means of backup and restore usually either just don't work or are a far cry from reliable.

unfortunately the messaging app doesnt do the auto backup either.

its only the clock app that seems to have enabled

If possible switch to vz messenger before switching phones. It'll save all your messages. Could even sync it with the app on tablet or pc

Couple questions about Tap and Go.

1. Will it install the Samsung bloatware to the 6P (or any other bloatware for that matter)?
2. Does it save messages within Google's Messenger app?
3. Is app data saved? I used a check book app and can never get it to transfer the data on factory resets, even when using a backup.

Tap and Go is the same as just signing into your google account during setup.

It saves you the time of entering your account and wifi details.

Hi everyone, waiting to receive my 6p tomorrow.

I've move from a note 3 to a 6 using the tap and go, but the main thing this missed was the wifi saved networks, is that now that fixed?
