Pay-as-you-go is different from prepaid.

TMobile prepaid works this way:
* You pay a set amount ($30 for their 4G plan) and then can use that service as much or little as want all month

TMobile Pay-as-you-go works this way:
* You put money in for that one day (or any number of days) and can use it until that money runs out - it's a daily fee

I am using straight talk and hubby is using net 10. They both seem about equal. We decided to try them separately and compare since net 10 still allows roaming. Not to mention you can't get the at&t sim card for straight talk now. T-mobile will not work for us because of limited reception where we live. Getting the settings right on net 10 is a little tricky whereas straight talk is real easy. Jury is still out on whether they are really equal since the parent company is the same. Sending hubby to work with both phones tomorrow to test them there.

I think I'd be fine with retaining my gv number and cycling carrier numbers if necessary.... I can always tell everyone to just email me pics as a fool proof.

GV has a one time $20 fee to port in a number. Your old GV number will go away some number of days after the port is complete unless you want to pay to keep it as well.

Now if i were to port today, would that in effect cancel my contract with verizon? ( Like, if you port from one carrier to another, it cancels the contract with the ex-carrier)

I'm really excited about switching. The savings of even paying my ETF and buying a nexus is worth more than if i continued my current verizon contract. It feels great to have the feeling that you're being as fiscally informed and responsible as you can be

Oh great advice on the password. I'll just have to have everything ready to go beforehand.

I was a sprint customer for 13 years actually as well; moved to a new place, had to switch to Verizon for reception considerations.

So I was actually thinking of trying T mobile first.... Their plans seem to have just changed to unlimited everything for $70 (i believe data roam included, throttle after 5gb)..... But hearing about solavei from you has def piqued my interest. I shall give them a hard look.

I wanted to use at&t actually, but it seems their 'go plans' are really stingy on the data aspect

I was thinking of upgrading to $50 for unlimited everything with unlimited 4g. But alot seem to like solevia...wouldn't solevia and simple have the exact same coverage BC they both use T-Mobile?

I've been using Solavei since January. For $49 the first 4GB are 4g. I'm pretty sure you're right about Simple Mobile also being a T-Mobile MVNO - so yes, the T-Mobile coverage would be the same. One difference might be data roaming. In T-Mobile service partner areas Solavei roams 2g - prepaid directly from T-Mobile only roams voice. I don't know about Simple Mobile.

I use solavei as well and I find it beats any other service I compare it to overall - prepaid and postpaid. Reasons? Most 4g data and voice minutes for the price, and well as free roaming. The referral bonuses are just icing on the cake. I would share it anyways. Message me with questions.

Most people seem to like straight talk. T-Mobile just announced new prepaid plans that look pretty good. Unlimited talk and text with 5gb high speed data for $45.
