Best price with $75 upgrade?

I just found out that I must have read our upgrade wrong (excitement made me see the wrong year?) but my sister and I are both only eligible for the $75 upgrade credit :(

Sprint chat says that the only price at that upgrade is $375 (no rebate offer)
I was wondering if any of you know of or have heard of any other way to get a better deal. We have 5 lines with sprint and have been with them for over 10 years. Not that that makes much difference lately...

I REALLY am disappointed (and it's totally my fault) I've been reading everything I could on these boards and on articles about the EVO for weeks (since I thought I found out we could get it) and now it's such a depressing blow that I can't! I just want to make this work somehow if at all possible and I can't afford $375.

Has anyone been offered anything from retentions or account services to help? I know it's a long shot but I just wanted to at least ask.
Thank you!

I'm in the same situation and was hoping these things would be on craigslist within a few weeks after launch. While I've worked with Sprint CSRs in the past, Retentions is the department with all of the power. IMO, your best bet would be to call and say you are thinking about switching but would be willing to stick around if they could get you an EVO for the standard 300 (and mail in rebate to 200). You'll never know if you don't ask.

If that doesn't work, keep an eye on craigslist. You never know when someone will have it for a week or two and hate it.

I dont if this will work for you because its YMMV. But sometimes you can call sprint and tell them you want to renew your contract for another 2 years (which essentially you are going to do when you get your phone) and ask them about the $70 credit for renewing your contract. You are still going to pay $375 for the phone but save $70 on your bill. So that will make the phone come out for you to $305. I have done this before but when i was already eligible for $150 upgrade but they have offered to me before when i was still about a year into the 2 year contract.

when i talked to a sprint rep, you get 75 per year (obviously max 150), but only at two years are you eligible for the 100$ mail in rebate, which brings it down to 200

Notes about craigslist, make sure you
1) Confirm the ESN # on the phone
2) Call sprint and make sure the ESN can be transferred onto your account (i.e. open, not stolen/lost etc)
3) check the water indicator on the battery

i posted this in another android forum and nobody there had the same luck as me, but this is why i am getting the phone at release.

I just got off the phone with Sprint and spoke with an account cancelation rep about whether i was eligible for an upgrade pending the arrival of the Evo. I was not eligible until October (when i bought my Hero), but she said her team was participating in a pilot program that offered folks within six months of eligibility the opportunity to "buy" the full upgrade eligibility for $50. sooo, i did it. i think she said folks 1 year to 6 months would pay $75 and folks over a year away pay $100. seems like a deal if you don't wanna buy the phone a full price. it renewed my contract of course, but now i only have to pay $250 theoretically for a new Evo instead of $350 or whatever it may be for someone not eligible. score? i think so.

Nick

everyone that tried calling wasn't able to get someone on the same team as the girl that gave me that pilot offer. heck, even when i called back to confirm the guy had no idea what i was talking about. he did confirm that there was a $50 pending "equipment" charge and that my eligibility had been changed.

Yes this is for the $75 phone upgrade credit. I am talking about $70 credit to the account. I have used my $150 credit on my phone plus called them in and gotten an extra $70 credit on the acct for renewing for 2 years. But like i said its YMMV. It has worked for alot of people but i have read that some people dont get it.

My sister was just told via chat that they would give us each $25 credit for renewing our contract...making the phone $350. That seems low to me. I know I've gotten the $70 for renewing before but I wonder if they would offer it to me now (I'm over a year from renewal since I renewed when the Hero came out and the my sister is exactly one year away. the other lines are also 1 year away)

It would be SO NICE if they could move up my date for $50!

Does anyone know the number to account services or retentions?

Thank you!

you can navigate to retention through the phone tree. pick option 5 then option 6 i believe.

We all should keep calling over and over till we get someone on this team participating in the pilot ;)

Who's up for driving Sprint's AS team insane? :p
(Because I would TOTALLY pay an extra $50 to have my upgrade date moved from 11/1 to 6/1 )

I just talked with account services and they said they never heard ofg it but would look into it for me. after a little time of looking into it, she said she found a pilot program but that it was discontinued dec 31 2009. She is now asking for more information on what Nick was offered and is asking to even call him on 3 way! She says if she knows more about how it was given, she can hopefully put it on for me too.
She wants to know what type of promo it is, where did you call to get it, what was told to you about it.
Any chance I could get some of that info? :)

i called and asked about the price of the phone with mu upgrade level, chatted about how much i wanted it since i actually have 4g in my area. then i mentioned that a friend had gotten this promo a few days ago, any chance I could get it too.

the only information i was given about it is that the charge is listed as an equipment charge and it was pending and that my eligibility date was changed from october to 05/01. i was speaking to the retention department when i called. the info was given to me by another retention rep when i called back to confirm. he also knew nothing about the pilot program.

gapoochi message me her info and i will call her so she can look at my account. i will call in an hour.

If you have someone who we can directly contact, that would be awesome -- all I'm getting is, "That's not within our guidelines."

Hmm..

I am wondering why you aren't considered a "Sprint Premier Customer"? I have been with sprint about 12 years and have 5 lines as well. I am eligible for $150 on each of my lines annually. Maybe you should ask them why you aren't getting the premier treatment? ;)

Just got off the phone and my attempt failed. They best they could do for me is a $10 monthly credit (which they won't give anymore past June 1st)...

And Premier is only eligible on the primary line of the account -- there's a disclaimer and asterisk on every instance you see this.
