Best ROM for optiums?

I have yet to see a pros and cons about the different ROMS available.
So state which roms you have tried, and the PROS and CONS of each.
Which was faster, better themes etc etc.

That's kind of a loaded question. Here's my roundabout answer (and personal opinion)...this is my first smart phone, so I am by no means an authority on this subject. ROMs (especially for the Optimus S) give generally similar performance tweaks. It really boils down to personal preference. I've used ThundeROM 1.5, 1.6, 1.6.2 and now I'm using Lego ROM. I was very impressed with my experience on both ROMs and ultimately settled on Lego ROM because the modular format fit what I was wanting. Nick7's nROM also has a great following and he offers great support to users. Pretty soon we'll have a fully functional gingerbread ROM running CM7, so you have some great options.

Long story short, the dev support here is great. The ROMs are great. Try them out and find the one that floats your proverbial geek boat.

There are like 5 ROMs.

V9 ROMs (not sure if these work well on VC) - ThundeROM, Lego ROM
ROMs for both - CM7 (see Scott Pilgrim Thread), NRom
VC ROMs - VC ROM

There was one more too, MegatROM or something? (Sorry to any if I missed any).

All are about the same speed, (I personally think CM7 is fastest, but also buggiest at this point). Try each and see what you like. Or look at each of their threads and compare/contrast....but really they are pretty similar.


Also:
CM7 is not based on SprintWare, but on CyanogenMOD (based on AOSP, I think).
Lego has flashable "blocks" to customize, but most of those blocks can just be flashed over ThundeROM or NRom too.

CM7 has a built in real time theme selector. I believe Nick7 is going to be working on porting his current themes into CM7.

If I had to guess, I would imagine CM7 gets a lot of dev time. Lets not forget that the entire CyanogenMod team supports the CM portion of the rom which is everything non specific to the device. Plus all the features that come along with that.

I hate sounding like a cheerleader for CM7, but I think it is the way to go.

Coming from trying thunderom,nrom,and now CM7 i would definitely suggest trying CM7. The only real feature its missing is usb storage support otherwise the rom is awesome and fast fast fast. Rebooting in CM7 takes at least half the time the other 2 do.

Personally, I'd go with nRom 1.5.1 at the moment. It works great with the v9 (which I'm still on) or vC radio, and it includes all the other updated drivers that came out with the Sprint VC update. My phone's proximity sensor was freaking out ridiculously with anything based on all the drivers included with the official v9 update (ie - ThunderROM still, nRom below v1.5.1), to the point where trying to hit touchtones while on a phone call was virtually impossible. nRom 1.5.1 fixed that completely and saved me from having to return my phone to Sprint. Still flashed back the ThunderROM theme on top of it though, because I love that one

it works you just have to replug the phone sometimes. Still looking into it but it *is* functional in 02182011.

I agree that nROM 1.51 is the most stable of the custom ROMS. Like the others said though, the wait for CM7 Gingerbread is almost over (for me it is over). Right now the rom is as functional as I need it to be. It boots in 2 minutes instead of 4. its snappy and overclocking is easier than using setCPU IMO

When using both, I found Lego Rom to be pretty much identical to Thunderom, just without the Thunderom specific theme already installed. Once you put that on Lego Rom it's pretty much indistinguishable. If you like Thunderom, I don't believe there's any real reason to switch, personally.

If you just feel like giving a new ROM a shot, I'd try Nick's 1.5.1 since it actually has the new LG drivers. Though, from a statement in the Thunderom thread, their updated version (which will include these same new drivers) should be coming out pretty soon as well.

I would say the best is Cyanogenmod, even in it's current state. There are a few bugs that are annoying but none that make it unusable. As far as the other roms go there arent really any big differences. Some may have different default stuff than others, but there is nothing that one has that you cant add on another. (Except V9/VC compatibility, this would something you could not change, but that falls more under requirements than pros and cons.)

So pretty much your choices are Cyanogen or the other ROMS(Sprint ROMs).

No doubt, the most stable is nrom 1.5.1. Of all the roms I have used, it performs best. With setcpu I have it overclocked to about 800 on demand, and I got about 974 on quadrant and it is still unbelievably stable no matter what Ive thrown on it.

Cyanogen mod still needs work. I tried it, fell in love with it, but then reverted to nrom because the music on cyanogen mod sucks and I use my phone as an mp3 player. No matter what you try, dsp manager, power amp, its from the audio files deep in cyanogen mod that needs to be fixed.

With out a doubt NROM 1.5.1. Thuderrom drained my batter at 1.6.2 and in general didn't feel faster or different than stock and crashed often. NROM is stable and fast. Otherwise cyanogen is the way to go
