Best rom for perf/battery life?

I am getting a new evo via fedex in a few hrs cause i dropped mine and cracked the screen. I have an otterbox but need the extended battery cause android batt life blows. What is your favorite rom, so i can put my otterbox back on?

I like Cyanogenmod 7 with the Savage Zen kernel. It is an SBC (that you can turn off), so if the idea of trickle charging bothers you, you don't have to use it.

Others like the TIamat kernel for battery life.

BTW, I have found that the ADW launcher is great right after the ROM has been flashed, but then gets a bit laggy and is prone to crashing. I personally switched to LauncherPro and it has been working great for me.

Actually used cm7 quite a bit...ws hoping a recommendation for something newer but batt life and performance is important to me.

I'm having a bit of trouble. I installed cm7 and the kernel and now it just loops on boot. I think i did the kernel wrong or something.

I been really impressed with cm7 when it came to battery life, performance, and the stability of it.

Another recommendation I would throw out is vaelpak. Its based on Sense but has a LOT of it removed. Its fast and stable. Plus, there is some really cool features he has with it.

Thanks for the recommendation but i prefer cm7 over vael.
