Best ROM? Functionality, stability, performance, and updatability

Re: Best ROM? Functionality, stability, performance, and updatabi

Hmm, you certainly must consider what you are interested in having.
I do not overclock, heat is bad for batteries, chips, and the life of the phone.
If u want games or things for speed I suggest a faster phone.
Search Github IHO binary
updates will be posted there I put a link in the Optimus V forum
https://github.com/inferiorhumanorgans/android_device_lge_thunderc/wiki/Binary

here it is again.some not all are here.
I strip my roms of system/app
everything works but mass storage on my V & I can wait for this rom to get completd.

I also tried various S roms on my Optimus S I think the V's are doing better.
I use CM7 to customize more.
you can build your own themes.

dgalert classic
dolphin hd (ii strip browser/html viewer)
quick pic ( i strip gallery/all wallpapers)
calendar pad (i strip all sync/google/calendar)
adfree
mixzing or ur fav player mixzing has a tag editor (i strip music.apk)

Re: Best ROM? Functionality, stability, performance, and updatabi

I think he had a legitimate concern (as far as future support, although "best ROM" is clearly a subjective personal preference) albeit misplaced in this case. Unsavory attitude in his replies sure doesn't help.

What I find puzzling is that I see at least two popular stable ROMs here, neither of which looks abandoned to me (Reborn and DrewsCM7 are the two I checked out, I'm sure others are great too but I haven't gotten there yet.) I was disappointed that Drew's regular weekly updates stopped the very week that I found and and installed his CM7 build, but a quick glance at the forum shows he's still actively developing, and there's no reason to think the project is abandoned--indeed, he's very clear with the notice at the top of his thread that it is not, and future updates are coming (which I am very much looking forward to), and he's continued to release other related work (kernel.)

Both of these ROMs have fairly recent updates (4wks for Drews, about 6wks for Reborn), which makes it seem silly to worry that they're abandoned. Also, from what I've seen, both are perfectly stable and offer great performance--far more than the stock ROM, in my experience. As ROM junkies, of course we want constant updates and improvements and new toys, but even if development ceased today, these are great ROMs that stand on their own and either one is a worthwhile and significant upgrade over stock.

I don't believe my attitude has been unsavory at all. I simply stated what I meant. I am blunt and to the point, I don't beat around the bush like most people in this world do so I can come across as an a$$hole to some, but that isn't my intention, I just want to be as clear as possible. I type like I am talking to you, so that may be why you think that also, not sure.

Like I said before, I do greatly appreciate what the devs do, as I am starting myself at doing this, and it does take a great deal of time. I also am not taking for granted the fact that family and real life comes before this, I know that it does, I never once said this took priority over that, I would hope you didn't push family away just to make a ROM.

That being said, I chose to go with reborn simply because the MMS works, and all of the theming available for it, this I did not see before. This is for my girlfriend so games don't matter much! Besides fruit ninja and scrabble, she's addicted. lol

Truly, I did not mean anything bad about this post, I hope that no one took it as that. Drew, I love your work bro, so please don't take this the wrong way, you have done an excellent job and I just read the part of your post for cm7 that you had real life issues, so I can see how you would take that personally, I didn't mean anything by it though, so again, please do not take it as that. As soon as you do an update I will be downloading again to see what awaits us all.

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions, I hope some new people can learn from this thread. Thanks again all of you! Greatly appreciated!
