Best ROM

I am using Eclipse V2.0, I love it. It is very streamlined and fast, have not had any issues yet and my battery life has increased. I have tried Blurr3d V1.5, and it was not bad, but it was choppy at times, especially with the swype keypad. I have yet to try any others, for the moment I am going to stick with Eclipse.

Just flashed eclipse 2.1 for 901. Nice nice so far, with droidjunk tools too.

Hey LDubs - check in with your review of eclipse.
speed, glitches, battery life, weirdness, greatness.
you just flashed it over kinetix, bing bang boom, no problem?
thanks -

Give me a couple days but so far battery life is good. As far as flashing it, I made a nandroid first, and then basically followed the steps for installing kin3tx, maybe overkill but figured couldn't hurt... wiped data, wiped cache, formatted system and wiped dalvik.. then installed. No issues installing nor booting.

Thanks. I am going to stay with 901 compatible kinetix for a little while, as it works fine for me. I'm finding that the battery use seems to get better as the days go by - perhaps the recalibration is "taking" ? who knows.

However, as the development is clearly now only with teams Eclipse and Liberty, I am highly likely to go in that direction (until Moto releases ICS for Bionic and everyone weighs in on that! )

thanks everybody. I am really happy with my Bionic for now.

yes, it usually takes a couple/few days for the ROM to settle to get max battery life.

Unfortunately the ROM scene is pretty dim/grim these days - Kin3tx is supposed to be updated/maintained by someone else but haven't seen it yet. Liberty only builds off of official OTA updates, so you won't see a .901 version until that's officially released by VZW, if ever. Eclipse has been updated (at least in a test build) to be built off of 901.

As for me, I borked my phone pretty good the other day and couldn't fix it, due to lack of available Windows machine that worked (I'm on a Mac). Begged for and got a replacement from VZW that is on 893, rooted and forever rooted it, got my apps back via Titanium, and left it at that for now.

Eclipse 2.1 looked pretty sweet.. I ran it for a bit, but I got a couple FCs.. Plus, the Facebook contact pictures won't sync yet. I think I'll wait for the final release as far as Eclipse is concerned.
I did, however, flash Liberty 3.0 over my .901, and it runs smooth as hell, and has a very slick color scheme. I'm a fan of subdued charcoals, blacks, and white instead of colorfully themed ROMs with lame, over the top logotry.

My phone with kinetix 901 compatible and go launcher is customized as I like.
The phone is plenty fast. 4g is great (23 down 7 up) and my wifi at home is sick - 25 down 25 up.
Battery life is fine. Basically 12 hours with heavy use. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
I have lots of cool apps. Notwithstanding all that -- I still feel compelled to risk another brick episode to try eclipse. But I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
What is wrong with me?!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you break your phone? Was it the software or human error?

Yes. I was on eclipse 2.1rc with 901 update and flashed epic blue theme on top. Had seen a couple posts saying it was working fine...but it wouldn't go past the boot animation screen. Im on a Mac and have limited options so I tried the released Mac version and got stuck in AP flashboot failure. Tried about a dozen things to fix it with an old gateway laptop that appears not to have enough juice in its usb ports to push anything properly. Didn't have access to anyone with a PC so I called vzw and asked for a replacement. If I had had bootcamp with windows on my Mac I could've used that too. Sucked it up and bought a copy of windows 7 and going to set that up over the next few days. Its actually quite simple to fix, I just couldn't do it with what I had.

Btw, I'm back. Used crpeck's new bionic restorer for Mac and got everything back up and running, typing this from my original bionic and sending back the replacement. Still going to install a windows partition on my Mac with bootcamp though, just in case.

I was on Eclipse 2.0 for a few weeks, then tried 2.1... The 2.1 had some bugs, but was pretty smooth. I finally decided to try out 901 patched Liberty. I don't know about battery yet, but I really appreciate the customization options with liberty. I'm really excited about the lock screen options and the ability to choose between blur apps and aosp. I didn't think I'd leave Eclipse, but I'm liking Liberty a lot.

Also on Eclipse 2.0. Granted this is my very first ROM, I am really liking it. Really enjoy the Red Bliss theme.

Thinking about trying Liberty now that I have something to compare it to and see which I like better. th30ryROM stuff seems to be dead, so wont even bother with those until they prove they are still developing for the bionic.

First I tried Kin3tx, than Liberty before and after .901, and now on Eclipse 2.1rc, all in all I think I like Liberty best, but I like my ROM to be compiled on the update that I'm running, so for now Eclipse it is. It's a fast and clean ROM with only minor bugs. I seem to have a one month reROM rate, maybe that means ICS is just around the corner, no really... haha

I am on Eclipse 2.1RC1 and LOVE IT - just get the 901 radio on there first or you will be sans the ability to make calls. Smooth, fast, and battery seems nice - no overnight 4G battery drain that plagued my Samsung Nexus.

Was on Kin3tix .901 compatible but lack of development made me bail (and the desire to flash something new). I really liked that rom. there is nothing wrong with it.

Switched to Eclipse 2.1 RC (901 compatible) very easy flash and the restoration of my apps and launcher took a little time.

after charging the battery 100% I calibrated it. While this is just the first run through, I am on 15h 21m with 19% left to go with a lot of web browsing, texting, email use (and 7 hours sleep last night).

that's the kind of battery I need!

I have not yet flashed a theme - there are only a handful - and I may just live with it as is for now.

The rom so far has zero problems for me. In fact, I am curious as to what others consider to be shortcomings or problems that they have experienced.

anyway, big ups for Kin3tix, bigger ups for Eclipse 2.1. (not going to liberty, as I am a .901 guy)

Is liberty on. 893 yet?

I'm not sure if you're still waiting on an answer, but Liberty has been patched for .901. IMHO, updating your radio to .901 would be beneficial and give you access to the newest Eclipse and the patched version of Liberty.
