This article is border-line blasphemous lol. I can't believe there's no mention of UAG or OTTERBOX here. I guess this is supposed to be an ad but crap at least mention the best in the business. I feel like its misleading.

If you guys don't know about UAG or OTTERBOX here's links to their sites. I have bought a UAG case for every phone I've ever owned unless for some reason they didn't release one for a certain model. WHat are you guy's favorite rugged cases? I'm currently using the Samsung OEM Rugged case and I've dropped mine in the parking lot and NO damage to the phone lol.

I agree - I've had phones in Otterbox Defender cases all but driven over - without a mark or glitch. I don't take the phone out of the box until after the Defender has arrived. (Imagine dropping a brand new phone and cracking the screen or the glass back - no thank you.)

Some of the people on here claim the Defender for the Note 8, s8, etc causes the screen to crack due to the inner shell.

Oh dang. A guy I work with has the s9 plus in a otterbox and dropped it from face level at work and it bounced all over the concrete floor. I thought for sure he was screwed with all the noise it made but nope his phone is perfect. That blew my mind bc I know these curved screens are tricky.

I was using the Otterbox Defender, but I switched over to the Lifeproof Next. It's dirt, dust, and snow-resistant and there's a mesh that covers the bottom-firing speaker to prevent sand/dirt/dust from getting in and there's port covers for the S Pen, charging port, and headphone jack. And for those wondering, the Lifeproof Next is Whitestone Dome Glass-friendly.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it's a clear case that's prone to scratching.

I've had both Otterbox Defender and Uag Monarch for the Note 8 when I had it, and now the Note 9. In my experience these are superior protective cases and have proven their worth time and time again.

The Defender I like because it makes this phone easier to hold since the phone is so narrow and it's grippy too. Main reason I don't use the Samsung rugged case as much is because the sides are not that raised but the fact it's so thin it's harder for me to type and use the Note. The wide width of the defender makes it easier to hold when using the spen as well.

How did the phone land? On the front, back, or side?

Face down. There's another guy at work with the same phone and case and he says he drops his all the time and it's good. Of course if it hits gravel it's done for.

Yea. Depends on how big the pebbles are though. The lip on the Defender is pretty deep.

The Unicorn Beetle is another good case, but due to it being more stiff I see more complaints about phones breaking still because it's so stiff it doesn't transfer teh energy well.
