Best Smartphone Cameras

My personal experience has been that regular shots range from ok to good depending on conditions (indoor or outdoor, lighting, etc.) and that using HDR+ almost always gives me a great quality shot.

Not surprised... I mean, in MY USE, I've been quite pleased with the shots I get from it. Good detail, good colors. Now, I will admit that it has its weaknesses that become readily aparent when I use something like a LG G4 (which my wife has). When I use it, I'm confident that I'll end up with a good, high quality picture.

The improvements they made to HDR+, though, are awesome. In most conditions, HDR+ takes a better overall picture. But the time to capture really used to handcuff when you could use it. When they updated the GC back in May or June, they really increased the speed... Prior to the update, I would switch to HDR+ only when the conditions favored it. Now, I just leave it on and only switch off for a few specific shots (. Makes a HUGE difference.

Some things I would like to see addressed still? The focus bouncing when taking video needs to be really reduced. I get it... if you use contrast detection, focus bounce is going to happen... but figure out a way to limit it. Second... get a little bit more generous with the exposure. In dark conditions, they don't really exploit OIS like they should. There are 3rd party apps that take much better pics in really low light conditions.

Do that... and then beef up QC a bit (manual controls maybe??) and I'm happy as a clam.

Yes those focus bounces in video are annoying, hope for a update to mitigate that.
