I've been having some trouble with the stock sms app. Was wondering if there was a better one out there and if it would interfere with my "SwiftKey Keyboard" app.

--Thanks

What kind of problems is the stock messaging app giving you? currently I use GoSMS Pro and love it. So many different options to choose from.

They aren't technical problems; they are more problems that I, personally am having. Was just wondering if there were better ones on the app market.

Diddo

I also love GoSMS Pro.

Me also, until I started using Google Voice as my go to, and integrated and all that. I still keep GoSMS around as you can blacklist individuals, and it will receive the MMS that Google Voice can't currently handle. I created a contact for myself as a tag for nfc, and I black list that user in GoSMS, so you don't receive double notification for every text that comes in to your phone, but still get notified for the pics and videos that come in through texting.

Moral of the story....Just my way of working around and in Google Voice.

Installed Go SMS Pro yesterday and there is no looking back. The stock app sucks comparitively. The screen now comes on when I get a message which is great if I'm sitting at my desk with my phone right in front of me. Also, got the FB chat plugin. Works so much better than chat in the native FB app. Best of all it's all free.

Like the others I prefer gosms as well. I changed from handscent due to its laggy performance and gosms works much smoother with more options to work with. Also I like the fact that my phone turns on when receiving a text since it doesnt come with a dam led notification light and speaker is so low.

Love GoSMS! Way better than stock, and I can just email myself texts threads so I can periodically purge my phone. For you guys wanting a LED notification try, NoLED, works like a charm and you can have it set to notify of other thing like missed calls, VM, emails, etc, etc.

Never used GoSMS, but I really like Handcent. The pop-up window that wakes your phone and lets you reply without going through and unlocking the screen is very handy.

NoLED is amazing, dude! Thanks for the tip! This solved my one gripe about this phone!

I was very unimpressed with the stock SMS too, but didn?t want to run through a separate 3rd party app, to avoid lag and battery drain. I found SMS Pop-up and liked it a lot. It still gives you the ability to set tones per contact, and the pop-up quick respond when arriving. Supposedly also breaks up long texts, but I had poor results. GoSMS for me was laggy when using all the features (changing text size and layout, etc.) and worst of all, when sending a message over 160 characters it turned the whole message into random garbled characters. Various recipients on different networks reported this.

BTW, I actually returned the Nexus due to this and several other primary features that I use that just seemed unimpressive.
