Best Substitute for Moto Software?

After Moto brought me back from the iOS dark side with the original Moto X and the Droid Turbo, I am thinking that it is time to move on. The lack of software updates and general disregard for existing models is frustrating, so say the least.

With that said, I have grown quite accustomed to the Moto software suite - particularly active notifications and Moto Voice. How can I most closely replicate those features in another phone (and for Moto Voice, I realize hardware may make it impossible to fully replicate)?

Moto voice is challenging. You might be able to do it with root on other phones, but it will likely be a huge battery suck. Active notifications will likely be a similar story. I think something like the LG V10 would work for you. Samsung has an always on display, too.

HTC is the 2nd best with software updates behind Google now. Maybe check out the new 10 if you really value a commitment to updated software? Maybe their ice view case will be of interest to you?

Moto has a bunch of unique and cool features that you'll be hard pressed to find elsewhere, but other phones have other cool things. We're always making tradeoffs, so if you're going to jump, you'll have to figure out what's worth it to you and what you need!

Good luck!

You might be able to use an android watch to get both an equivalent of Moto voice and smart notifications. Of course the other idea is to switch back to the dark side for "hey Siri" though, of course, no Moto display. But you'll definitely get the updates - lots of them.
