I'm stalking used G6's to replace my current Nexus 6P. The phone will be used primarily on AT&T, but occasionally T-Mobile (AT&T is my work line, T-Mobile my personal). Looking at the different US versions and the bands they support, I've focused on the T-Mobile/H872 version because it seems to support a lot more bands than the unlocked US997 version, and if I need to unlock it, a T-Mobile version will be the easiest.

Am I looking at this correctly?

Sounds to me like t-mobile will be the way to go.

I really thought my next phone would be a carrier-unlocked one because of carrier bloat and locked bootloaders. I ended up getting the AT&T G6 in the end. I personally rely heavily on AT&T's wifi calling because I get a spotty cell signal at home (usable 25% of the time), and that won't work with anything but the AT&T version, but that wasn't actually a factor when I bought it because I'd never used it - the deciding factor was the half-off sale AT&T had. You can probably get a similarly good deal from T-mobile.

The major advantage I see of the US997 is the ability to also unlock the bootloader and root the phone, but at this point I've been without root long enough and surviving ok.
