Best VPN in Playstore?

HIDE dot ME has a free 2Gb a month plan. You have to renew it each month which I feel is a small price to pay.

I guess I am paranoid but how do we know what ANY VPN provider does with our data? I'm not sure paying $ guarantees more ethical behavior. I don't know mind you. Just sayin

Paying money may or may not guarantee more ethical behavior but that will depend on what company you pick. Doing your due diligence, reading reviews, looking at their track record goes a long way. However, paying a couple bucks will almost certainly provide more features.

Take the hide dot me free option. You only get 2gb of data, limited speed, only 3 locations (none in the USA), limited protocols, and only 1 connection.

Compare that to paying a measly $3/month where you get unlimited bandwidth, 5 connections, 3000+ servers in 25+ countries, more protocol options, etc. That's where $3/month makes it worth it IMO.

Sure, there are many free options out there but there is always going to be a catch and you have to decide if that catch is worth saving $3/month. Some free VPN services are even ad supported. No thanks.

I don't mind ad supported as long as the ads go away when I shut off the vpn. Remember how rarely I intend to use it. For those who wish to always mask you id it is well worth paying $.

I was in the same boat — just wanted a VPN for public Wi-Fi, but didn’t feel like paying for a full subscription like PIA.
I tried a few free options, and so far X-VPN has been the most usable on Android. It doesn’t ask for any registration and gives you unlimited bandwidth, which is rare for a free app. I’ve mostly used it for casual browsing on coffee shop Wi-Fi, and it’s been pretty stable.
Of course, it has its limits — you can’t choose the server, so I wouldn’t rely on it for location-sensitive tasks. But for quick protection on public networks, it does the job.
That said, the free version doesn’t let you pick your server location, so it’s not ideal for streaming or location-specific tasks. But for light privacy use, I think it’s a solid free option.
