I updated yesterday and my battery life is terrible now. I want to factory reset but am wondering if I should let it restore apps or just start fresh?

Just doing a factory reset and the when you login to your Google account it will download all of you apps. This way has always worked for me. I guess you could tell it to not install the apps and then download each one at a time on your own. I see no reason to do that unless you wanted to just install a few and then see how it runs. Then if all is well you can install more, then wait, then more then wait......... I believe that I would just let it do it, I am sure that would restore your battery.

If i have performance issues and i feel a reset is required, I always reset as a new device. I only have a few set system settings; small text, battery saving location, some sound and vibration options etc. Then i re-install my trusted core apps that i use and go from there. The only real issue is the updating of google apps each reset.

From then on install future apps to try as and when, over time rogue apps lead to the process starting over.

I did this and my apps were restored, the phone ran better, but I lost a lot of info and settings. I even backed up data to my backup pro, and still lost stuff, including music, ringtones, blocked phone numbers from a phone app, sign in passwords, etc. So before you reset, backup data, consider a full backup service in addition to Google, review each app you might lose data from, and copy it, and prepare to spend hours of time fixing your phone. If anyone knows an easier way, and I'm sure there is, please let me know, it was frustrating.

I used the LG backup. I was surprised what it could backup/restore - call logs, sms/mms, apps (with exception of little snafu with the old stock Android email app). K9 settings restored 100%. It did not restore ringtones. I also had to enter the unlock settings.

I did this order.
1. Upgraded to 5.01 - all apps were transferred over just fine
2. Backed up using LG Backup Service found in settings. I backed up to
3. Factory reset
4. Restored with LG Backup Service
5. Log into Google account
6. Select ringtone, unlock, and a few other minor things

This worked for me, ymmv.
