Best way to restore S10+?

I did a factory reset on my S10+ for a couple of reasons. One, it seems like my battery life was taking a severe hit by something, compared to the excellent battery life I was getting when it was new. Also, I wanted to try the backup/restore feature to see how it compared to Apple and Windows, both of which restored my old phones exactly as they had been before. Turns out, using the backup created the day before I did the reset did almost nothing. Apps didn't repopulate, Microsoft launcher didn't come back, wallpaper, grid size, etc. Phone looks like the day it cam out of the box still. I don't if that's what I should expect or of I'm doing something wrong. Are there any tricks I need to know? I don't mind starting from scratch, of I wouldn't have done the reset, but there will be times when I'll want a more robust restore in the future.

I use another phone, iPhone or Android, to copy from and while the app settings and preferences as well as home screen desktop are not copied as is, it's not a lot of work.

Using iPad to iPhone is great if both are on same version of iOS, otherwise no.. iTunes is or use to be, 10.15 is even easier.

Backing up/restore from SD is suppose to be easy but haven't done it.

Did you try using Samsung Cloud sync ?

It turns out that a lot of what I was missing is on the shoulders of the Microsoft Launcher. I don't see any way to have it backup automatically, and I hadn't done a manual backup in a while. So now I've learned to back that up before doing a reset, and to not forget to restore that as well!
