Best way to return to main home screen?

Am I missing something? - always a distinct possibility. Without the 3 button navigation at the bottom what's the easiest way to return to the main homes screen, or do I have to just scroll to get there?

You should be able to just swipe up from the bottom....where the little bar is at the bottom of the screen, swipe up from there.

Doesn't work. All that does is close the current APP and bring me to the home screen that I'm currently on, not the main main home screen. Maybe because I'm using Nova Launcher?

Swiping straight up from the bottom horizontal line will do exactly as you described. Swiping up to the left or right will bring you to the main home screen. If you prefer the three navigation buttons you can get those by going into settings.
The above is how it works via Pixel Launcher. I don't know if that is how it works with Nova launcher.

Im using Nova and I just swipe up to clear what Im on and Im back on the home page.

Now you can take your pick of methods that suit your preference.

If you want you can change from the gesture system to the three button layout.

I don't use Nova, so with the standard Pixel launcher, swiping up goes right to the home screen.

Well, duh to me. Even though I use Nova (recommend it to everyone) I found that the 3 button navigation is still an optuion - I just had to go the regular pixel Gesture Settings.

I was a 3 button guy until now, finally learned gestures, it does take some getting used to.
