I am a beginner at rooting, so I was wondering, how do I do it? What is the best way (and preferably the safest way too)? I already bricked my iTouch lol on accident, so I am kind of hesitant to root, but it is very very tempting....

Yes, use unrevoked, but DO NOT do it if you just got the recent update. Will not work till unrevoked has an update. You can downgrade to the previous version before the update and then Unrevoked will work. If you have a MAC or have access to one, I suggest using it. It is easier and quicker. It takes less than 5 minutes.
