So I'm finally wiping myself clean of iOS (aside from my iPod Classic and Apple TV) and going with an S3 until the S4 makes an appearance. One thing I have an issue with is sending videos. Never found a great way to do it on Android. We have a 4 month old so we take a lot of pics/videos and like to share them. My wife has an S3, so we can swap easily. But what about MMS to family with other phones? Anyone have a tried and true easy method to send videos?

Thanks!

Upload to a cloud drive. Then send the link.
e-mail it using large file transfer.

You mean like DropBox or something like that?

What about to quickly do it through mms or something along those lines?

I like using my compact camera better than the camera on my s3 or Note II. Especially because I don't like to use flash and in low light situations, without flash, s3 pictures don't look so good. I use an eye Fi card in my camera which is set to automatically upload pictures and videos to my note 2 (or any device that you specify), and also set to automatically upload the full unaltered pictures or videos to the online eyefi manager and to your computer. You can log into the eyefi manager and send links to whoever you want and they can also download the full unaltered pictures or video. Pictures or video taken from my note 2 also get automatically uploaded. You can have it set to automatically upload to online sharing like Flickr or whatever as well.
Note that if you have a limited data plan, be careful as uploading videos may eat through your allowance fast. I have unlimited unthrottled 4glte, so not an issue for me

Sent from my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

All depends on the file size. Some limit to 25meg. DropBox, Google drive, photobucket.

Yahoo uses a third party to send up to a 2gig file.

I have been trying to figure out the best way to send a video for 6 months now! I as well came from an iPhone and my issue with the s3 is that when I take a video I want to take a full hd video and mms it to my friend. In order to send a video through mms you must select the "limit for mms" in your video settings. My issue is how can I pre-plan taking a video in order to know if I need to select limit for mms so I can mms it to a friend. If I don't plan on sending it, which is very rare, I can keep it on normal hd mode. I have to upload my normal videos to YouTube and then send my YouTube link to my friend via mms. It's a lot of unnecessary work! As for the iPhone it auto compresses the video so you can send it to anyone. A big reason I may go back to the iPhone

1280x720 will record at 100mb per minute. So if you plan on sending a file, keep that in mind. I haven't checked file size in lower res modes. 320x240 should give decent file sizes. Maybe 25meg per minute.
640x480 should be about 50meg per minute.

So unless I record all my videos in MMS mode, I'll have to upload them and share them that way? I guess it's doable. Just wish it would down convert automatically to send. Guess Facebook and DropBox will be my friends here.

Yeah, this is something that my wife and mother-in-law have been complaining about. My wife's iPhone would automatically convert the video for MMS, but her S3 won't. You'd think that adding this feature would be a no-brainer and something Google could push out at any time.

Yep. With such an advanced operating system that can do so much, this seems like such a trivial thing that should be baked in. It's almost like it has been completely overlooked.

Moving large files, like video, between devices and machines has always been a challenge. I find that Apple using a proprietary format that only works on their devices to be a very poor solution for communication, so I wouldn't say the competition has it and we don't. Cloud storage, such as Dropbox, as an intermediary is probably your best bet. Here are a couple other ideas:

1. YouTube (provided it's okay to post publicly. Once you upload, you can just pass the link.)
2. Bluetooth or Wifi Direct transfer. Obviously, you have to have the devices near each other for enough time to complete transfer.

Here is my solution. This is what my wife and I do. Use google photos, make it automatically upload your photos and just log into the photos account on both devices and you can quickly change between accounts to see HD photos and pics. Now this clearly won't work with random friends and what not, but a spouse it would work perfectly.
