Who likes the notch? I personally can't stand it. I'd rather have a big bezel (Pixel XL) than the ugly notch. Looks like the next OnePlus will have a notch and if the rumors are true, the next LG flagship. I guess I'll be skipping those phones. Looks like Samsung is our hope to prevent the notch becoming mainstream. Hahaha.

I too dislike notches. In fact, by a coincidence, notches inspired me only yesterday to consider starting a thread about bezels. You’ve mentioned those too so I’m not hijacking your thread. I don’t mind bezels. I find that when using a phone, I’m looking at what’s on the screen, not at the screen itself and any bezels around it. Bezels I don’t notice, but I think I’d notice a notch.

+1 vote for bezel. Moto already tried tried the "notch" thing in 2015 with the 360 flat tire... most hate it. Some learn to tolerate it, but no one likes it.

I find the bezels offer a substantial grip, grasp, hold advantage.

This, and fewer accidental touches.

The masses kept demanding smaller bezels, and I hope they are happy they got their wish.

I like Samsung's approach. No notch and small bezels. I hate the notch look. It's a deal breaker for me.

I too am not a fan of notches. Essential and the Huawei P20 line did them well, IMO; but I dislike the rest. I'd rather have bezel over notches any day.

Bezels also add a degree of drop impact durability since they do not have glass at the far edges of the device.

It's ironic that bezel-free phones mean more risk for damage, which means that a case would be a good idea, which then essentially adds a bezel.:-\

Makes about as much sense as getting an all glass phone for its looks, only to slap a case on it to protect it while hiding said looks.

Add another vote for a bezel. Even a small one along the sides. I have more accidental touches with my Note 5 than I do with my Pixel.

Bezels for most of the reasons posted here and a couple more. Protection, durability, usability, symmetry, grip, accidental touches, old fashiony ... :)

I use the phone with one hand and swipe instead of type (and I write a lot), so a decent chin and some side bezels are more than necessary. I kind of understand this trend on better screen-to-body ratio and how the phone 'looks' while not in use, but for me is all about usability and how easy is to do the things I need to do with my phone. More a tool than a flashy accessory.

I see the notch as a not very useful gimmick. The gain on screen real state is minimal, it can be an aesthetical nuisance when you use the phone and the lack of bezels would change the way I use it. And my status bar can get very busy, on both sides.

For me a bit a chin with a front FPS that includes navigation gestures that let you hide the bar is the way to go. Told you, old fashion :)

Bezel for me to :)

Samsungs approach makes far more sense as it is symmetrical, and allows for the display to be far more immersive.

The notch takes away all the leaps and bounds SuperAMOLED Displays have made in the last 10years - bringing incredibly immersive large displays, the notch adds what looks like dead pixels, lol.

I dislike the notches on phones I'm using the note8 I prefer how that is it's a full even screen up and down side to side when in video.and working plus gaming lest for me it's better.

I couldn't agree with you more!
